I know that by using the command 'winhelp' the directory /home/john/.wine will
be created.
I forgot how I happen to know this. What document source would tell me that I

From a newbie: how to run MS Word?
Hi!
Half an hour ago I installed wine-20041201 under Mandrake Linux 9.1,
successfully I think.
On my PC I also have a partition with Windows 98 in it, correctly mounted.
I installed Wine with the main purpose of properly writing and reading documents
in MS Word, since neither kword, nor Open Office kwrite nor even abiword
achieve this purpose in a satisfaying way.
Now, probably I haven't

NPTL & Wine
Hi,
My main systems are Gentoo based. I am investigating switching to
NPTL on one of them that uses a couple of different versions of Wine
built from source. In doing the research I found that the Gentoo
ebuilds for Wine use NPTL. Does this mean that if I switch to NPTL
that I must recompile my source-caode based versions of Wine? If so,
can someone tell my what options I would use, most likely

Installing wine rpm - failed dependencies??
I am running SuSE 8.0 (waiting for 9.2). I have a windows application I wanted to run using wine. It ran fairly well then locked up on the old wine release that came with SuSE 8.0. Thought I should get the latest wine so downloaded the current wine for Suse 8.0 from winehq.com. I first ran Yast and removed the presently installed wine. I put the new rpm in /root and logged in as root then

Whatever I want to do with wine is displayed with a very small font in
italics. I need a magnifying glass to read any text.
How can I change this for larger font and normal text?

Relaying some UDP traffic through tinc?
I can confirm that Steam In-Home Streaming does work properly over tinc,
for having tried it myself, as long as tinc is configured to route the
broadcasts properly, as Guus described. Note that it would be easier to set
up tinc nodes on your Windows desktop and Linux laptops, to avoid the
additional complication of having to relay broadcast packets between your
local networks and the tinc network.

Upgrade 20040914.
Hello,
I made a "wine" upgrade from 2003121 to 20040914. I then installed a
program "EasyBridge" that worked perfect with the 2003121 version. The
installation was without any problems, and at the end of the
installation the program started automatically, also withouth problems.
But when I later on recall the program with "wine EasyBridge.exe" I get

correctly.

I can't compile wine-20040914 cleanly: I have to make depend && make -i to
skip an error in sfnt2fnt.c:

Hmmm, tinc 1.11 is not in Debian stable so I guess this will be a bit
of a PITA to set up.

nonlinear (especially logistic) regression accounting for spatially correlated errors
Hello,
Sorry to be a bit longwinded, but I've struggled quite a bit with the following over the last few days. I've read all entries related to spatial autocorrelation in R help and haven't found what I'm after. If it's okay, I'm going to first describe my general understanding of the process by which a mixed model can account for correlated errors. If possible, please

fsck - and there was much rejoicing
Looks like the fsck bug has been stomped! I did a 960G drive this morning,
and I'm 90% of the way through a 1.4T drive, both of which have *lots* of
files and hard links, and it has *not* hung at 70.1%, and is running at
reasonable speed.
Thanks to the folks who got this one. I *really* needed to do this, esp.
to our backup drives.

Notes toward an rsync regression suite
It would help with rsync quality if we had an automatic test suite
that could run on the build farm machines to validate functionality.
Writing a test suite is hard when there is no requirements document.
The best thing to do is probably to start with the functionality that
is both commonly used and easy to test, and work up from there. So in
the case of rsync this is copying from one directory
