Unusual characters in IE6
Hi all- I am very happy to say that I have successfully installed wine
and winetools. The only problem is, that when I try to type in hebrew
in IE, all the characters come out as a kuf- that is the letter that
shares a key with 'E' on the keyboard. English typing works fine. Has
anyone seen something like this before? According to google, no. Does
anyone know what causes this?
Thanks all.

MS Office in Wine: Hebrew backwards
I must install MS Office in Wine on Ubuntu Linux. It installs fine,
but the Hebrew is backwards. Googling the problem led me to this
video, which illustrates the problem:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=19I2qaykE6w
Does anyone know how to fix this? I am on a full UTF-8 Hebrew locale,
if that is relevant. I installed MS Office 2003 in English on Kubuntu
8.04. Thanks in advance.

Installation of IE6 and Office2000 with wine 0.9.12
Hi,
I used some time ago the winetools package to configure wine older than 0.9.10
with IE6 and Office 2000. Updates of wine up to 0.9.10 where also succesful,
so that I was able to continue the usage of MS Office2000.
But since the Desktop changes in wine 0.9.11, 0.9.12 the old installation does
no more work.

For some time I have been using wine plus winetools on Ubuntu Breezy, allowing me to be able to use Internet Explorer on linux.
When updating to the newer versions of Wine on either Brreezy or Dapper, I find that internet explorer n longer works.
The winetools page shows two files that need to be downloaded wt-config.reg and ie6.reg along with winetools for wine 9.x
No where can I find how to

Winetools + IE6 + WineCVS
Hello all.
I'm trying to run the above combination. Now I understand that Winetools
recommends an older version. However, I also understand that the latest
version of Wine is leagues ahead in terms of features and stability.
Problem is, I need IE6. Which doesn't install using Winetools under the
latest CVS (as in today) and I enjoy the more reliable operation that

Installing winetools
When trying to install Microsoft Foundation Classes I find that
winetools gets stuck on the mfc40.dll download. I can download
mfc40.dll via my broswer, however. Where to stick this file, so that
winetools can find it, and not need to download from dlldump.com?
I'm on Ubuntu with the KDE desktop installed, if that matters. Thanks.

wine-users Digest, Vol 41, Issue 117
Hi David,
I have a copy of Windows that I bought a year or two ago, but never really
used it, as I preferred to use Linux.
Got it just in case I needed the license, I guess now I can put it to use.
Me paying for the Windows copy should include the fonts, right?
It's working now, and showing the fonts. Thanks a lot :-D
Now all that I have left is to get the characters to attach, and I

Running Internet Explorer 6 (IE6), but nothing happens
Hi,
I am currently running Ubuntu 8.04 with wine 1.0 (upgraded thru update manager).
I previously installed wine & winetools using instructions from http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=149585.
However, when I try to run IE6, this is what the terminal outputs:
kenninaz at kenninaz-desktop:~$ wine /home/kenninaz/.wine/c/Program\ Files/Internet\ Explorer/IEXPLORE.EXE

utf-8 in Wine
I'm using wine-0.9.33 on Ubuntu. I have a Windows app, ListPro, that
runs fine. However, I cannot type in Hebrew- I get "Swedish vowels"
when I try to use the Hebrew keyboard layout. Previously saved files
with Hebrew display fine. What can I do to enable Hebrew typing?
Thanks in advance.

IE6 and none latin pages does not work with win-0.9.8, worked with 0.9.7
Hello,
I've used app-emulation/wine-0.9.7 with ie6, installed by
ies4linux. All worked fine! (Except of that I've never
succeeded in writing hebrew...)
I've upgraded to app-emulation/wine-0.9.8-r1, ie6 stopped
displaying Hebrew pages. I've also noticed that the
View->Encoding menu is empty, it should contain a lot of
code pages.
I also get the following trace:

IE6 SP1 with wine 0.9.19
Help!
I tried nearly everything I could and still was not able to get IE
working with wine 0.9.19.
Manual install using App DB, winetools, ies4linux, etc... everything
fails, with different problems and error messages of course.
It's really frustrating. Is there a way to install IE that actually
works ?

Installing IE6 in wine-0.9.8
Hello everybody,
I know there are many HOWTOs out there about installing IE6, but none
seem to mention the problem I have.
The installation of IE6 doesn't go beyond the window:

you are connected to the internet or try to run Setup later again"

How to get IE6 stable?
Hello,
I installed IE6 with both WineTools and IEs4Linux (under different user
accounts).
Most of the features work, but IE often hangs. Then I can only kill the
process.
Has someone got IE6 stable under WINE?
If so, which WINE version do I have to use and how shall I configure
it?
Thanks in advance,

G'day
It turned out that the copy of winetools I had was nuked. Once Markus
told me that it should work, I rechecked. I just up and installed a new
copy and there were all the great menu items he'd been seeing and I
hadn't. Including the IE6 SP1
