Supervoice 2.6 comms program (for fax and voice etc) in wine
Has anybody had experience with installing Supervoice (2.6) fax/voice
software in wine?
I've installed it apparently OK (although I do seem to remember getting
some error on installation) - it seems to start to run OK, but with some
glitches! Each time, it wants to re-detect and configure the modem -
why?! Also, it shows me the messages (fax and voice) which were stored
in the modem (USR 56K

smb_pam_accountcheck: PAM: Account validation failed...
Firstly, I've already solved the daft mistake of mine. I'm merely sending
it in so the next person digging through the archives might get helped out.
I've configured Samba v2.2.8a, alot of default settings. No LDAP
interaction, no winbindd. Accounts were created both in '/etc/passwd' &&
'smbpasswd', but whenever I tried to mount a share from my RedHat box, the

help com1
I am having an issue with a windows app I installed. I am running wine
20050310 on kubuntu Edgy. Everything in the app seems to be functioning
fine except com1. I am not able to access the hardware (microcontroller)
via com1 at all. I checked the .wine/fake_windows/dos_driver/com1 shortcut
and it exists. What can I do to fix this issue and get my software and
linux to open com1? Thanks.

/dev/ttyS0 - COM1 problem
Hello, I'm trying to run my weather station (Davis WMII) on wine 0-9-58
and OpenSuSe 10.3.
After installation of WeatherLink 5.7.1, I try to communicate via COM1
but the program can't find it and even not test with a loop plug in COM1.
I have changed the mode to 0777 for the serial devices in
/etc/udev/rules.d/50-udev-default.rules and rebooted.
/home/sel/.wine/dosdevices reveal that

I'm trying to configure SeaClear2 to run on an Asus eeepc 900 using a BT GPS but cannot redirect input from rfcomm0 to com1 (the serial port which SeaClear is looking for.
Data flows through to rfcomm0 but I cannot redirect it to com1.
I have set up symbolic links in the .wine/ folder and its sub-folder .wine/dosdevices/ but nothing happens and I have also set the SeaClear.ini file to show

byg report : "console=com1" and "Unknown interrupt"
hello,
I''m booting xen on iTuner over serial console. It seems to me
that it is bug that unless I explictly specify "console=com1"
I get unhelpfull message "Unknown Interrupt" and halt (infinite
loop).
sh-2.05b# /sbin/kexec -e
Starting new kernel
Unknown interrupt
adding "console=com1" fixes this problem for me so I doubt it

Setting up com1 in wine.
This is my first time using WINE and really I'm a Linux newbie, an I've been using it for like maybe week and have gotten into it a bit, but this one kind of stumps me.
I know alot of you have said to symbolically link tty0 to com1...but I just don't nkow where the ./wine directory is located, I look in file manager, andit's just not there.
and I usually use that as a point of

Dual boot in CentOS 4.4
I've recently upgraded from RedHat 9 to CentOS 4.4. With RH9 I had a
dual boot system with Windows XP (RH9 as the default of course!), which
was automatically set up when I installed RH9 in the remaining partition
after I'd installed XP. However, I appear to have lost my dual boot with
CentOS 4.4 (no option to boot into DOS now), even though I still have
the Windows XP partition, so how

Com1 Setup in Wine (Windows)
Where does wine setup the com ports?? Maybe I can't access the port because
winme has not set it up correctly? I have the symbolic link in dosdevices,
and I am already a member of dialup and uucp ... so that should be right ...
IF wine has the comport setup correct.
Still looking to control my rig through my ONLY com port.

Serial Communication
I try to use SimoComU, a tool to control frequency converters, on Wine.
Since version 2004-07-16 it opens its main window, and most functions
seem to work. Anyway, it does not communicate over the serial line. I
see the following output:
trace:file:CreateFileW L"COM1" GENERIC_READ GENERIC_WRITE OPEN_EXISTING
attributes 0x0
trace:file:RtlDosPathNameToNtPathName_U

Serial Port Access Under Wine
I have asked this before, but has anyone successfully used serial
port /dev/ttyS0 under wine? I am trying to run a windows program for

My linux is a debian derivative ... sidux ... and I have installed wine from
the sid repositories. The program runs ... and displays a radio dial which
looks correct. However, because I cannot

Serial port communication
Hi folks
I've been trying to programm some devices which need a serial port win-app http://a-m-c.com/download/software/amcds3-7-6.zip but can't get it to work :S
wine can run it without problem until the serial port is activated. I read about making the link to the port and I created on "dosdevices" folder.
I'm not sure what's the next step, does anyone have an idea?

Unwanted serial port interaction in pxelinux
I need to do some Windows device driver debugging using WinDbg from a
second system over the serial port.
The system PXE boots into a pxelinux menu first. I have observed that when
the serial port is connected there are characters from the debugging
system that are read and interpreted (as garbage) by pxelinux. Because of
this, I am forced to stop the debugger or unplug the serial cable every
