Weird Internet Explorer behaviour and one other mess
I'm kind of a newbie on the whole Wine deal and I'm
close to flipping out on this problem I have, maybe
it's happened to someone else (who can share his/her
wisdom):
- Internet Explorer can't open new windows. Be it
javascript, a popup, or even if you click on 'File ->
New -> Window' and if you try, it hangs. So it's
practically unusable to me since the corporate

Shockwave - any progress?
I have achieved much of what I wanted to achieve using Wine, with one
exception. I was hoping to be able to use Shockwave content, but despite
installing Firefox and the Shockwave plugin, it does not work - it seems
to stop after the promotional film before the actual requested content.
I know there are "pay" solutions to this problem, but was wondering if
anyone had found a free

problems installing wine
I just downloaded the latest version of wine from the site to install on
my system. My system is an Athalon XP 2400+ running Fedora Core 3,
fully updated.
I downloaded the file wine-20050419-1fc3winehq.athlon.rpm and installed
it, then installed winetools-2.1.1-jo.i386.rpm to go with it.
I started winetools to do the configuration and completed each step of
the base install one at a time until

Problem with InstMsiA.exe
Hi all,
I'm writing because I'm running into some wierdness I can't find any bug
reports about. So it must be me, I guess.
I'm trying to install the Imatch demo from www.photools.com, which uses an
MSI installer. I have Wine set to Win98 compatibility mode.
I can get the registered version up and running if I install it on windoze
first then move the whole installation directory

clobbered config file
Yesterday, I finally finished getting Internet Explorer installed.
WineTools reports that DCOM98 and arial32.exe (fonts) are installed.
But, when I try to run anything, I get an error message stating that the
config file is invalid. And, it is. Now, it is totally empty.
The last thing I did, as far as installing is concerned, was to run an
installer for a tv station application taht shows news

Wine and ALSA
Hi,
I added some nice IP telephone programs and other sound related
applications to the next version of WineTools. The problem is that only
oss sound is reliable. With it it works very nice.
But if during running a program another linux program accesses sound,
the sound output of the Wine program is dying often does not come back.
This is typical as only one program can access the oss

Installing Wordview with Winetools
Dear friends:
I am pleased to say that I successfully installed Internet Explorer
Sp1 on my Linux (Scientific Linux 4.0, which is based on RHEL 4)
using Wintools.
After installing IE6, I thought installing WordView (the Word97
word view program) would be a snap. But instead Wintools failed
to install it in several attempts. It started, downloaded the file and
tried to install it. But at

128-bit encryption message since update to 0.9.6
I had used WineTools to install IE6 under WINE 0.9.something (0.9.4, I
think). It worked fine to connect to my employer's Citrix server and run
Citrix apps that required 128-bit encryption to run SSL connections.
Since updating WINE to 0.9.6 (via Apt-get, I run Debian), whenever I try
to connect to the Citrix server, I get a message informing me that
128-bit encryption is required and I

Wine tools problems?
Don't know if this is the right place to ask for winetools assistance,
but....
I installed the wt210jo rpm along with the latest wine rpm (20050111)
but whenever I try to launch the install for IE6 or any of the other
applications in Winetools, everything errors out, saying that it can't
find OLE32.DLL. Obviously I don't have any version of windows installed
anywhere (and this is

Sluggish UI in KDE
Slackware 10.0. Wine version whatever was current a month ago, how do I tell
what wine version I have? Anyhow, I'm experience two issues:
I have KDE setup with 4 virutual desktops. If I'm running WinMX via wine,
and if I try to switch to a different desktop, it immediately switches back.
I basically can't use the other desktops because I can't switch to them.
Also, I can't

IE HTML rendering problem with wine 0.9.8
Hi! I installed both wine-0.9.8 and wine-0.9.9 and winetools. I've
installed IE 6 using winetools and IE 6 starts just fine but doesn't
render any HTML pages, but instead displays a "HTML rendering is
currently disabled" message.
I did some searching on Google and found this message on the wine-devel
mailing list:
