A happy and successful new year for everyone! I just release WineTools 2.0.9. You can download it at http://www.von-thadden.de/Joachim/WineTools/. This release has some minor improvements such as: - cdrom is detected from fstab during Base setup - IE6 now in english and german - user info about installed scripts WineTools is an menu driven installer for installing Windows programs under wine. This software lets you install Windows software for Linux under WINE: * DCOM98 * IE6 * Windows Core Fonts * Windows System Software * Office & Office Viewer * Adobe Photoshop 7, Illustrator 9, Acrobat Reader 5.1 * many other programs It also sets up your .wine directory in the correct way, downloads the files to install from the web (only the free and shareware ones for sure and for now mostly in german), installs Windows fonts and lets you uninstall and configure your software. And it does much more than Sidenet, although it uses a part of the configuration for IE6 (thanks for that!). WineTools was initially written by Frank Hendriksen and was extended by me (Joachim von Thadden). It is licensed under the GPL. The actual version wt209jo work with Wine versions 20040914, 20041019 and 20041201. You can download Wine from here. Older versions can be downloaded here. Note that you should definitely start with the menu entry "Base setup" and create a new fake Windows drive. If you want to save your old .wine directory, you can use the backup funktion of WineTools. I downloaded and installed 2.0.9. I wanted to check the instructions in the README.txt file. Is the second symbolic link command correct? ln -s /usr/local/winetools/wt209jo /usr/local/bin/wt ln -s /usr/local/winetools/findwine /usr/local/bin [root@Godzilla winetools]# ln -s /usr/local/winetools/findwine /usr/local/bin ln: `/usr/local/bin/findwine': File exists For now I'm changing it to [root@Godzilla bin]# ln -s /usr/local/winetools/findwine /usr/local/bin/findwine [root@Godzilla bin]# Thanks, Mark

The installation progresses until the Windows Update Progress Bar is 47% complete. At that point it hasn't moved in the last 5 mnutes. In the terminal where I started winetools I see the following: err:setupapi:SetupDefaultQueueCallbackA delete error 3 "c:\\windows\\Web\\userexp.htm" err:setupapi:SetupDefaultQueueCallbackA delete error 3 "c:\\windows\\Web\\compon.htm" err:setupapi:SetupDefaultQueueCallbackA delete error 3 "c:\\windows\\Web\\desktop.htx" err:setupapi:SetupDefaultQueueCallbackA delete error 3 "C:\\PROG~FBU\\setup\\ie4.inf" err:setupapi:SetupDefaultQueueCallbackA delete error 2 "C:\\PROG~FBU\\ie40.cif" err:setupapi:SetupDefaultQueueCallbackA delete error 2 "C:\\PROG~FBU\\ie4.txt" fixme:setupapi:GenInstall16 unsupported flag: GENINSTALL_DO_CFGAUTO err:setupapi:SetupDefaultQueueCallbackA delete error 2 "c:\\windows\\inf\\ie5dom.inf" wine: Unhandled exception (thread 001e), starting debugger... err:vxd:VMM_VxDCall Using the native Win95 advapi32.dll is no longer supported. err:vxd:VMM_VxDCall Please configure advapi32 to builtin. err:winedbg:dbg_load_internal_vars Cannot create WineDbg key in registry This is with wine-20041019 compiled from source. Change "ln -s" to "ln -sf" and it will work. I changed the README for the next version. Regards Joachim -- "Never touch a running system! Never run a touching system? Never run a touchy system!!!"

If I understand you right, you failed with the athlon rpm on an athlon machine and had success with the i386 build on the same athlon machine? If this is true I will enable checks for that in WineTools.
