Email Alerts for Multiple UPSs with upssched
Ah! So I can detect the source UPS in the upssched.conf and pass it as a distinct event to the shell script. That sounds like an excellent approach.
Thanks!

Email Alerts for Multiple UPSs with upssched
Greetings Gentlebeings,
I have started deploying a number of NUT instances on Raspberry Pi machines (Raspbian Jessie) across my network. The purpose of these "nutcases" as we refer to them is to monitor the status of the UPSs supporting our network switching infrastructure and notify us of power and battery events via email. No shutdown or other actions are required.
Everything is

How about man upsmon.conf? See the <system> field of the MONITOR directive.

thoughts on tripp lite Smart Online UPSs?
We're looking at replacing some old APC SmartUPS 5000s with something
that has USB so NUT can more easily talk with it (and yes, I've tried
USB-RS232 adapters and every one I tried started kicking out errors
within a few hours).
One of the bids we have is for a "Tripp Lite UPS Smart Online 5000VA
4500W Rackmount 5kVA 200V/240V" as the potential replacement unit. I

NUT - General Concept Question
Garrett,
I hope you're not barking up the wrong tree because that's exactly what I'm working toward. The web display was pretty straightforward. I haven't worked out the email notification part yet but it seems like it should be doable.

multiple machines
Hi - I have 5 Linux servers connected to 1 SmartUPS 2200 VA.
The software from APC for Linux requires a Windows machine be
present on the network as a server in order to manage the Linux
machines.
This is a show stopper for us since we don't have access to any
Windows machines.
My first impression of NUT is it can shutdown the machine connected
to the UPS via the serial cable but it

TrippLite SU3000XLCD
I'm having trouble with a TrippLite SU3000XLCD. I'm using a Raspberry Pi running Raspbian (wheezy) with NUT 2.6.4.
I can monitor my older TrippLite UPSs, mostly SU1000RT2Us, with this Pi and a USB to serial adapter.
My first thought with the SU3000XLCD was to use the USB port instead of the serial port as that's the "modern" thing to do. When I plugged the USB cable in

[EXTERNAL] thoughts on tripp lite Smart Online UPSs?
Thanks. I haven't used that unit specifically with Network UPS Tools, but have used similar (from a protocol perspective) units.
I'm working remotely for a while, but on the off chance I get into the position to connect a unit via USB, what Operating System are you using?
If the opportunity arises, I can try to set up a basic test.
Thank you,

Question about recycle power of Tripp Lite UPS
Hello,
We are trying to develop a mechanism to power cycle Tripp Lite UPS. When we
checked the upscmd, looks like the only command we can use is
shutdown.reboot(sudo upscmd -u user -p password ups shutdown.reboot).
Because the PC is connected to UPS directly and we would prefer shutdown PC
before power cycle the UPS. But if we run shutdown PC first it won't run

Email Alerts for Multiple UPSs with upssched
This was the secret sauce! I first modified my BASH script to stuff the output of the 'set' command into a variable, then passed that variable in to my email command. Then I triggered an event and saw what variables were there in the body of the message.
Voila!
$UPSNAME and $NOTIFYTYPE were there and available. I modified the script to pump THOSE into the mail command, and the problem

Smart1500LCD USB and usbhid-ups
Greetings all,
Anyone have a clue on this behavior (see below) on this behavior with
FreeNAS-8.3.0-RELEASE-x64 (r12701M) on a TrippLite 1500LCD UPS? NUT version
is 2.6.5
Using the following profile: Tripp-Lite ups 2 Smart1500LCD USB (usbhid-ups)
I get the following:
Dec 10 21:40:12 nas6 kernel: uhid0: <Tripp Lite TRIPP LITE UPS, class 0/0,
rev 1.10/0.02, addr 2> on usbus1

Why are LAN ports not standard on UPSs these days?
People,
A couple of decades before I was retired and was still working for other
people I had cause to install UPSs and they usually had RS232 ports to
allow the setting up of shutdown scripts to UNIX / Linux servers. Now,
after not having to be concerned by those issues for some time - most of
my little web sites have been on Digital Ocean or other suppliers VMs

Glad to hear it's working, thanks Tom.
Network UPS Tools team: is fixing this as simple as me telling you what new UPS protocols are HID-PDC compliant?
Thank you,

UPS Groups?
I've used nut for simple configurations before but now one has grown to a
more complex setup and can't seem to find any info online.
I would like to have single central nut master monitor a bank of UPSs for a
whole rack of servers with redundant PSUs.
So
UPS A1 ---> Server group A PSU 1
UPS A2 ---> Server group A PSU 2
UPS B1 ---> Server group B PSU 1
UPS B2 ---> Server

Is a timer a file?
Hi, I'm trying to get a better understanding of what a timer is, so I
added the following line to upssched.conf
# Debug - turn on long-running timer to find out where upssched puts it
AT ONBATT * START-TIMER where-am-I 1000
I can then start this timer by pulling the power cord from the wall for
just a few seconds.
I now have 1000 seconds to find the timer. I don't see it in
