Time, not sure who owner is, but I've tried as both admin and myself, to no avail. ?However, I told you that mesg is y, buti tried to send a mesg using ?' write ' ?and it says I have messages disabled. ????? ? I did that by opening two?terminals, on I logged in as ' su ', and sent the message from there. ?Is that peculiar? Might account for why I am notgetting anything from

No messages
Charles,
This is how I have the upsmon.conf set up. ?The only time I get a message is if the?NUT Monitor gui is running. ?I open LXterminal, pull the wall plug, and I get no messagesin the terminal.

Strange
I tested shutdown by pulling the plug from the wall socket and observed that I was notgetting any notifications. ?Then I opened the NUT Monitor GUI and immediately got notified.
What did I do wrong? ?I think that upsmon runs at startup so why do I have to open the GUI?in order to get messages? ?

no /etc/default/nut
Looking in to my previous question about no messages until clicking NUT Monitor GUI,I found that it was recommend to make sure that /etc/default/nut ?should be as follows:

START_UPSD=yes
START_UPSMON=yesHowever, there is no '/etc/default/nut' . ? Do I need to create it ?

(a) WinPower RPM available? (b) where to install if use tar.gz file?
Two quick and simple questions; I want to install the "WinPower"
software for my new UPS. On their web site, they have a tar.gz file
available for download. I know the reasons for staying with RPM, if at
all possible. I''ve Googled and Yahood for ""WinPower"+RPM+Linux and
get hits, but no obvious RPM. I tried "yum install winpower" and the

NOTIFYCMD shell script problem driving me NUTS
Either I am missing something or I am really STUPID.
1. I have added a user, named nutmon, to the nut group.
2. In upsmon.conf I have set RUN_AS_USER nutmon .
3. I have NOTIFYCMD /etc/nut/notifyme.sh and it is set as 755, so should be
executable by everyone.
4. I have the NOTIFYFLAG set as SYSLOG+WALL+EXEC, so the shell should
execute.
This is the shell script :
#!/bin/bash

driver for my ups
Hello everyone.
I have a "Forza Power Technologies" UPS, model sl-501.
the software i've been used to manage it is Winpower v.2.2.0.1. It works on windows but not linux.
There is a version for this app for linux, but once installed, it doesn't detect the ups (the connection is via usb).
My question is if there is a driver useful for this hardware. I've bee reading that

USB drivers not found when compiling
Came across this in the process of troubleshooting:
https://alioth-lists.debian.net/pipermail/nut-upsuser/2011-November/007249.html
My whole reason for compiling from source is to add SSL support (as it
doesn't seem available through the package manager). Apt list shows these
installed:

Some issues with UPS Forza SL-1001
Hi to everybody. Some days ago, I bought an UPS by Forza Power Technologies,
model SL-1001. This Forza SL-1001 is line-interactive, has 14,4 A/h charge
and is rated at 1000VA. Before, I had a TrippLite Omni 500 (or something
like that), a simple contact-closure UPS, and I used nut with the simple
genericupsdriver, so I'm new with this type of UPSs.
NUT doesn't list Forza as a

Who is the owner and group for wall? Note that it is set group ID to allow it to write to sessions . . . thus, that owner needs to be a system account that can write to devices, not just Joe-Bob . . . You might also try 'strace wall' to see what it is trying to do.

Need help identifying UPS for use with NUT
Hi there.
I bought a generic UPS from a local (South African) hardware company,
Sahara. They call it an "Electra 1000 Plus". From what I am told it is a
1000 VA line interactive UPS. It comes with "WinPower" Java based software
that I couldn't get to work. (Crashes on start-up, without any explanation.)
I would like to know if any one on this mailing list could help me
