Printing - using WINE
Hello out there, perhaps anybody has some idea for my problem. I've had several nice successes with WINE. GoogleEarth e.g. or some of my old tools of the windows-times. Now yesterday I've sent my tax-declaration (in Germany: ElsterFormular) to the tax-administration, online. BUT: I couldn't print the declaration!! NOTHING at all happened. I havn't ever tried to print, it was not

Step-by-step guide for PowerPoint under wine?
Dear All, is there a step-by-step guide on how to install PowerPoint 2000 with wine (I'm running PhotoShop 3 and UltraEdit with it, perfectly !) System: SuSE Personal 9.1, wine -version is 20040213-41. I tried to start the install with 'wine /path/to/CD-ROM/setup.exe', it takes forever and finally it returns with 'file not found'. The files are all there, expect that on the

paper size in postscript driver
I have a non-PS printer setup to print under linux using ghostscript as a filter. This printer has two paper trays, one has letter paper, the other tabloid size paper. If I print from a program that uses a PPD file to configure the printer, like StarOffice or The Gimp, I can select the paper size from a nifty list. If I select letter size, the printer print with paper from the letter tray. If

cups printing quicken I guess wine-bugs is dead.
Hello wine people, this is my first posting here. I am using the gimp printing ppd, cups and lpr on a hpdj842c. Wine release 20011226. On Debian woody with 2.4.17. Everything rocks so far except whenever i try to print wine freaks out and dies. Crossover is using Wine release 20010629. I have tried printing in linux and it works fine. I also have crossover installed (I actually paid for it).

A day of trying to get something to work
Well, after spending a day of working with trying to install an assortment of progams on my Wine installation for SuSe 10.0, I'm giving up. Every time I get almost to the point where I think it could be useful, something happens. The latest was a complaint at the very end of the extensive install for Brittanica encyclopedia, saying something couldn't be found. Why does everything have

How to set a portrait mode screen using i915 driver?
I am trying to setup a portrait mode screen. I can see that in 3.85, there is an enhancement which allows arbitrary resolutions (http://git.kernel.org/?p=boot/syslinux/syslinux.git;a=commitdiff;h=5d4ade0221c2387345d0a82422866bb8b937cb09). Can I use this new feature to achieve setting the portrait mode. What is the syntax in the config file to set it? Also, is there any other vesa driver

rpc and wine
can someone tell me how to get RPC and WINE to work in conjunction with one another? I have serious need to run an RPC application under linux's WINE port. If I cannot find a solution, I'm regretably going to have to change the OS to windows which I'd prefer not to do. Thanks, Chris

Print from wine
I'm running debian sarge and have installed wine with "apt-get" (wine 20041201). Afterwards I configurated it with winetools. Everything went fine. I also installed the Internet Explorer and Office 2000. There were no problems during the installation and IE and Office run without problems besides printing. There I get error messages like "no printer installed". Is

Wine-20050524 problem
I had Wine-20050310 installed from FreeBSD ports. This version worked fine for me. But after upgrading to Wine-20050524 some applications don't work properly. E.g. Okay, I'm sorry, but that's the dumbest idea yet. If they didn't have Windows, why would they use Samba?

aggregate vs tapply; is there a middle ground?
Dear all, I'm wanting to do a series of comparisons among 4 categorical variables: a <- aggregate(y, list(var1, var2, var3, var4), sum) This gets me a very nice 2-dimensional data frame with one column per variable, BUT, as help for aggregate says, <<empty subsets are removed>>. I don't see in help(aggregate) how I can change this. In contrast, a <- tapply(y,

Registry entry for .NET?
Hey all, I'm trying to run the HakInstaller for Neverwinter Nights (http://nwvault.ign.com/Files/other/data/1076838606000.shtml ). Unfortunately, it requires .NET 1.1 to run. I have the SuSE 9.2 Mono package (version 1.0.1; I know there's a later, but this should be OK, afaik) installed; I've loaded the module and mount reports that /proc/sys/fs/binfmt_misc is mounted. Running a game in full screen mode?
UT2004 runs nearly flawlessly under Wine, and is about 10,000 times easier to install than its Linux counterpart. The only problem I'm having is running it full screen. What's the command for that? For example, is it something like: $wine UT2004.exe --full-screen I know --full-screen is the right option, so which is it? (Without editing the config file, or course.) :) Thanks! Hiji

Questions on setting up icecast
Sorry, gang. The FAQ didn't seem to answer me, nor did Googling... I merely want a simple solution to do the following: I am setting up a streaming server for in-house use. I want it to broadcast the RAW MP3 DATA from my actual MP3 files, as I listen to them in xmms. In other words, I DO NOT want: XMMS ---> decode to wave ---> re-encode to MP3 ---> icecast ---> listeners I
