opening a WinZip file
Hello
I am trying to read a large number of WinZip files from inside R (v 1.7.1,
options()$unzip = internal). I have unsuccessfully tried to unpack the files
and write to an external directory so that I could read the text files using
zip.unpack. Reading some of the archives suggests that this is for .ZIP
format files only.
I have also unsuccessfully tried to use gzfile to open a connection and

PowerPoint 2000 with wine (I'm running PhotoShop 3 and
UltraEdit with it, perfectly !)
System: SuSE Personal 9.1, wine -version is

I tried to start the install with 'wine

finally it returns with 'file not found'.
The files are all there, expect that on the

Do I need to defile my machine, or is there a simple work-around
I am trying to install Microchip's MPLab package (a set of tools for
working with PIC microcontrollers) with the latest Wine from CVS (at
least, latest as of yesterday morning).
I've been running Wine for a while, so I already have an existing Wine
registry. I don't have a Windows install on the machine.
The installer (InstallShield) unpacks, runs, and then pops up a dialog

Can you reproduce this bug on wine-20050930 like me?
Can you reproduce this bug? Follow these steps:
1. Install Filezilla:
http://prdownloads.sourceforge.net/filezilla/FileZilla_2_2_16_setup.exe?download
2. FTP into the server of your choice
3. Click and drag files from the server to your local
machine (to copy them)
4. Realize now that even though the files have been
copied to your machine, you are still dragging the
files around
If you can

Wine - Broderbund Print Shop - printing
I am running wine 20050725.
I used winetools to get an assortment
of software loaded and with a bit of tweeking
it worked.
I then ran the install CD for Broderbund
"The Print Shop". It loaded OK and after
copying a few dll's from my windows box, it
came up and ran.
My problem is with printing.
After reading through the users guide on printing
and poking around in the archives

Re: running TextAloudMP3
Hello
I've succeeded running older version ov TextAloud on
my machine (to some extend). It means that now I can
type my registration code in the application and
continue with running TextAloud. Later at some moment
it ties to use TTS engines and then it shows the
message that TTS engine isn't installed. I've
installed AT&T Natural voices in TextAloud directory

128-bit encryption message since update to 0.9.6
I had used WineTools to install IE6 under WINE 0.9.something (0.9.4, I
think). It worked fine to connect to my employer's Citrix server and run
Citrix apps that required 128-bit encryption to run SSL connections.
Since updating WINE to 0.9.6 (via Apt-get, I run Debian), whenever I try
to connect to the Citrix server, I get a message informing me that
128-bit encryption is required and I

I'm using Wine 0.9.11~winehq1-1 on Debian Sid.
I've been trying to install IE6 and MS Office 2000 for the last few
days. As a side note, the only way I managed to install IE6 was through
Sidenet. No luck with any other method (reg files, winetools...)
Office 2000 installs, but when I try to run the program it says:

Windows Vista Issues
This is a repost of a simple question about Windows Vista and R (with
answer), along with a heads-up on other Windows Vista issues that people may
not be aware of and that may impact R development.
1. The standard package install process fails because the user does not
have permission to write to Program Files/R/R-version/library. Apparently
the install process has already been modified to give

wine .9
Installed Wine .9 (Nice Job!)
Everything compiled nicely, and installed DCOM98.exe fine. Trying to
install IE6 and coming up with an error such as "Cannot complete
download of components, check your internet connection..."
I am connected just fine. Is this a bug? or is there a step I possibly
missed?
Thank you.

Printing under wine
Hi,
Bit of a newbie here, I've checked the FAQ, and some srchives, but haven't
found an answer.
I have a Windows DTP application, which runs quite well under wine 9.0
(Mandriva Linux 2005SE), but when tryimg to print, dumps with a stack
backtrace.
So I thought I'd try printing from the wine-supplied notepad; this doesn't
even come up with a printer list. I can't believe

running a .EXE
I have two computers with wine installed. The first is a Fedora Core 6
with all updates running wine-0.9.25. The second is a RHEL4 with
wine-0.9.27 compiled from source (./configure, make, make install). In
both cases I have a dual-boot partition with a WindowsXP NTFS, and I can
install and run ntfs-3g with no problem.
In the first system, I can navigate to the location of NOTEPAD.EXE and

samba setup.exe rant part 2
this was previously posted only on samba-ntdom, but that was probably
not the right list so i'm cross-posting to both samba and samba-ntdom.
here's the problem:
on NT4 w/ SP4 or SP5, self-extracting 16-bit install files work just
fine in directories w/ Long File Names.
on SAMBA 2.0.5a, i can get none of the aforementioned files to install
from directories w/ Long File Names.

How to run Internet Explorer 6 from existing Windows instalation under Fedora 3 (with wine)
Hi all,
Sorry if I ask something that is answered already, but I am new to this
list.
I need to run IE for testing purposes (unfortunately too many people are
still using Windows and I need to make my web pages Windows compatible).
I have an existing Windows installation, but I do not want to reboot
just to see if a small change in a web page is shown correctly in IE.
I have installed wine, but
