SiS 661FXon CentOS?????
I have a CentOs 5 beta running on a Desktop with a video card SiS 661FX, unfortunaly I can't run compixz on that card, and neither run any 3D aplications. My question is: How can I give 3D acelaration on that video card and Is there any way to run compixz. I've been looking on google about the driver for that card and I've found nothing. Any idea??. Ps. Forgive me any bad writing,

Laptop non-graphic install init 5 to X not Gnome
Well I got my 1st notebook install done. Since the video card takes 24Mb memory, installer would not go graphical (256-24=232). But I can now boot into character mode. an init 5 brings up X, but I am in the X environment, and I want to be in Gnome. What file am I to edit and what changes do I make? thanks.

HTML-documentaion on NT
Once you hae in stalled Guido's NT port of R it is nice and easy to install the add-on packages too. However, it would be nice to have links to the documentation of the functions in all the packages from the "All Installed Functions" html-page, and not have to go through each of the packages. Is there a utility somewhere to do this? Bendix \\\|///

Rounding in date.mdy from library(date)
The date library contains a function date.mdy that converts a number D to the date (month, date, year as a list) at D days after 1 Jan 1960. This a convention that fits in with SASs. The logic would be that the result was the date at D days after 1 Jan 1960 00:00:00 (which is a POINT in time as opposed to a date which is an interval), so that any D with 2<=D<3 was rounded to 3 Jan 1960 and

building rpms
Hello, I've got a centos 4.4 box and i'd like to make some rpms for it. My first task is to recompile an srpm removing some options to customize it. I tried rpmbuild, which worked on a fedora install, but that command wasn't available. What rpm do i have to install to make rpms? I've got rpmdb, rpm, and rpm-libs already installed. I thought the missing one was rpm-utils,

Ordered factors , was: surrogate poisson models
For ordered factor the natural contrast coding would be to parametrize by the succsessive differences between levels, which does not assume equal spacing of factor levels as does the polynomial contrasts (implicitly at least). This requires the contr.cum, which could be: contr.cum <- function (n, contrasts = TRUE) { if (is.numeric(n) && length(n) == 1) levs <- 1:n
