initial configuration assistance
Hi, I've browsed the archives back for a few months and nothing has jumped out at me as being helpful, but since there doesn't seem to be a search facility it's certainly possible I've missed what I'm looking for. Anyway, I wonder if someone can help me. I've very recently installed nut 2.0.4-r1 on a gentoo box and am in the initial stages of configuration and testing.

APCsmart serial port problem
I have a new APC Smart-UPS SUA2200RM2U. I've had no success with the manufacturer's PowerChute software and smart signaling, so I have decided to try NUT. The smartups driver can't make contact through the serial port. Since this is rack-mounted, it comes with a 940-1524 serial cable. As far as I can tell, this is supposed to work with smart signaling. Here's my ups.conf:

Trouble connecting to apc smart 1500 via serial cable
Hello. I've been running a two machine setup with a mge-shut for some time without problems, and now I'm configuring a three machine setup with an APC Smart 1500. The UPS has three machines connected to it, in a peculiar way: one windows machine is connected via USB. The second windows machine is using an agent to monitor messages from the first windows machine. Then, I have a GNU/Linux

Problem after reboot
Hello all, Rebooted my server by mistake (don't ask...) - everything was working OK before the reboot, but after the reboot, NUT stopped working - so had a look and I found I couldn't track the exact problem - I'm quite stumped as there's nothing indicating that there's a problem, but it just doesn't work... In a nutshell.... destiny:/usr/local/ups/bin# ./upsdrvctl

Loop back cable pinout 15 Pin Serial
I am trying to test the T1 card in our legacy PBX but the connector to the card is a 15 pin serial cable. I would like to make it myself so I can try this test today. Does anyone have a pinout for it? I just made a T1 RJ-45 loop back to test my TE110P and it tested out fine. I'm trying to resolve some timing issues and a tech from Digium is going to ssh in and walk around my asterisk server

Smart-UPS with SuSE 9.0/Nut
I have a Dell PE 2850 connected via 940-0024C cable to serial port on the UPS mentioned above. I've used apt-get to install nut-2.0.2-3 and attempted to configure based on the documentation. So far I'm getting the following when I try to start ups daemon: server:/etc/ups # /etc/init.d/ups start Starting service NUT: -> Starting UPS driver: Network UPS Tools - UPS driver controller

Compaq T2400H UPS model 242688-006
Hi, I have a Comapq T2400H model 242688-003 and do not have the special cable to connect it to my serial port. I have tried all sorts of cable wirings that I found on the net, including ones for the powerware 5119 which appears to be the same model. I have read the documentation that comes with NUT, tried to read the source code and looked at the genericups code too.? I have

MGE Ellipse 500 cable config
I have trouble in getting communication work with MGE Ellipse 500. I bought it second hand and I don't have the cable for it. How do I know if it's the Serial or USB model? The serial number of the unit is: 769B16015. I suspect it is the serial version as the label next to the RJ11 stands "com port", but I can't be 100% sure. MGE Ellipse serial cable pinout can be found

how to rescan serial ports without reboot
Hi all, I hope this is possible. I have a server, with a network switch attached to the serial port, and I want to rescan the serial port (/dev/tty) to see if it picks it up? I'd prefer not to reboot the server if at all possible. dmesg reports ttyS0 as the active port: [root at zabackup01 ~]# dmesg |grep tty Bootdata ok (command line is ro root=/dev/System/root rhgb quiet xencons=tty6)

Reading from serial port

I get no data from reader. Even cat /dev/ttyS0 does not work anymore afterwards. I thinks it's because as soon as application opens it via wine some tty flags change: (PS: Of course I created

serial="pty"
When adding the keyword serial="pty" to a xen cfg file, I am able to open /dev/ttyS0 in my dom-U linux kernel environment and send serial data to a /dev/pts/x port in my dom-0 linux environment. If I happen to have have multiple dom-U''s configured this way, what is the best way to determine how these ports will be mapped so I will know which /dev/pts port belongs to which
