LLVM GSOC Projects Criteria Consultation (before 2/28)
Agreed. LLVM GSOC Projects Criteria Consultation (before 2/28)
Hello all, GSOC is around the corner, and the LLVM projects plans to participate again this year. For those who don’t know about GSOC, students are proposing a project that they will work on for 3 months. Amongst other, one goal for LLVM is to mentor students to become good developers and also contributors to the LLVM project (or user/advocate of LLVM for building other cool projects). A key

Google are running their Summer of Code again this year. If you're not familiar with it, see: https://developers.google.com/open-source/gsoc/ We decided to apply a while back, but it's now time for orgs to actually apply - the deadline is just a few days away (Feb 20th). The main priorities right now are: * Refreshing the list of project ideas. I've done some cleaning up, but

Writing a Quick Start Guide to Xapian
Google are holding a GSoC "Doc Camp" this year the week before the annual mentor summit - the dates for Doc Camp are 17-21 October, and the location is Google HQ in Mountain View, California, USA. A major part of this will be several Book Sprints for writing Quick Start guides for specific organisations taking part in GSoC. They're currently inviting proposals, and I'd like to

We really need more community involvement with GSoC
I think the idea of dedicated "newbie hour - no question is too basic" drop in sessions is fantastic. +1 for that. We really need more community involvement with GSoC
Note : I do not mean to compare or criticize any organization. This is based on my experience. Dear Community, I have subscribed llvm-dev list for last 6 months and I follow most of the thread when it makes sense to me. I have observed that some times some mails do not get any kind of response. Mostly novice students and some one trying to use LLVM in the research have many questions. I respect

GSoC 2014
Google's "Summer of Code" is on again. If you're not familiar with GSoC, see: http://code.google.com/soc/ We had a brief discussion on IRC, and we have enough potential mentors to make it worth applying again. Org applications are open Feb 3rd-14th. Accepted orgs are announced on Feb 24th, and students can apply between March 10th and 21st, but the keen ones have already

GSoC 2017
Google are running their Summer of Code again this year. If you're not familiar with it, see: https://developers.google.com/open-source/gsoc/ Last year was very successful and I think we probably want to apply again this year, assuming there are a sufficient number of people interested in mentoring to make it worthwhile. Org application open on 19th (this Thursday) though the deadline is

We really need more community involvement with GSoC
I would like to insist more to use slack.com due to persistent storage of message it can be useful to create 'Minutes of Meeting' kind of thing and later on shared on mailing list so that all community can be aware of that, when some serious discussion has happened during 'office hours'. *Vivek Pandya* On Sun, Mar 20, 2016 at 1:53 AM, Chandler Carruth <chandlerc at
