Just wondering, if there is Audacity package which runs in centos 5 somewhere? Have googled, but not found any. Any help? Jarmo

OS: CentOS 5.0 x86. Hi, I have some old music tapes and a walkman, and want to move the music to mp3 format. So far I am thinking to use Audacity to record the music to wavs, and then do not know, somehow I will compress the wavs to mp3s as vbr 192 Kbps with something. Has anyone done this? What app did you use for recording the music from the tapes and what app did you use to make it mp3?

Hi, I had downloaded CentOS 5.1 x86 DVD image, and although it passed sha1sum or md5sum test and I burned it verifying it, installation failed. Also if I recall correctly, when I tested the medium during install, it failed although as I said the media was verified. ==> The same things happen with Scientific Linux 5.1 x86 installation DVD, so perhaps it is a Red Hat EL 5.1 x86 DVD issue?

Hi, I am surprised how some features are missing from CentOS 5. So far, I found missing: 1) GNOME Session does not prompt for saving on log out. 2) There isn't a "Run" option in the GNOME menus for running programs.

What is there available for Centos? Now that Audacity is no longer available to us... I do have Audacity on an XP system, so I do have the option to shuffle files between systems....

Anyone been able to get pgadmin3 installed on CentOS-4 ? The WxGTK2 stuff makes it impossible for me to get installed from RPM/SRPM from their site and likewise, couldn't rebuild from Fedora SRPMS either. I figure between Jim and Owen and ???, somebody might have succeeded where I would be doomed. I can get around with phppgadmin but pgadmin3 is pretty cool. Thanks Craig

What's a good, gui-based sound editor as an alternative to audacity (since that is not working right now due to conflicts in the gtk libraries in rpmforge)? Or is there another place whence one may retrieve audacity? I tried sourceforge, but the links there resolve to a broken download link or they are for 64-bit rpms. Thanks. mhr

I am using Audacity to record some voice prompts. The .wav files I'm producing are of stellar quality. However, once I turn them into .gsm, they sound buzzy and muffled. Hi, ? I'm having trouble with Audacity and Vorbis. Having proccessed a number of raw WAV files, I export to a mono Vorbis file, quality 5. I open it first with VLC, then Windows Media Player, and both play the file aprx 1.5 seconds late, therefore skipping the first 1.5 seconds. Any idea why it's doing this, and how I can remedy it? ?
