The USB passthrough that refuses to die
In trying to find out why my usb passthrough is not working, I decided
to edit (virsh edit) the config file for the vm client, removing the
following lines
<hostdev mode='subsystem' type='usb' managed='yes'>
<source>
<vendor id='0x051d'/>
<product id='0x0002'/>
</source>
</hostdev>

VGA passtrough
Hi,
I've been reading up on how to create guests which will have a gpu. I found a technologie of nvidia called Grid K1 or Grid K2. It's a graphical PCIe card which can make virtual gpu's available. Only I think nvidia doesn't support qemu and it looks expensive (didn't ask for a quote yet) because these cards are created for 10 tot 20 users. I only need to support about 6

USB passthrough of all USB-slots to guest
Hi,
how can I define passthrough of all USB-slots to a guest with libvirt?
With qemu it's very easy:
# kvm -usb -usbdevice host:0.* -usbdevice host:1.* -usbdevice host:2.* -usbdevice host:3.* ...
This configuration of the VM gets *all* 4 USB-Slots. Every time somewhat USB-device
is plugged in the VM gets it.
virt-install manpage offers:
--host-device 001.003

Issue with two UPS APC managed from a single PC.
Is that with both UPSes on same machine?
A quick guess would be that insufficient data points to identify the device
are configured (vendorid, productid, serial...) in ups.conf, so both
drivers connect to the first match. I'd expect them to conflict and one
would die or both loop reconnecting, if both are running at once, though.
Also, which NUT version? Custom build from GitHub or an

upds crash with 'Out of memory'
Hello,
I am trying to get nut running on a Windows 2012 R2 server (x64). I am
using the MSI release of 2.6.5-3. The attached UPS is an APC xs1500 (model
bx1500g). The connection is an RJ45 to USB cable.
Here is my ups.conf:
[xs1500]
driver = usbhid-ups
port = auto
desc = "APC Back-UPS xs1500"
The problem I am encountering is upsd crashing with an 'Out of memory'
error. I can

Re: LXC + USB passthrough = Operation not permitted
Can you see the USB device in the lxc?
My answering assumes you cannot see the USB device in the container. If you can see it, please ignore my answer.
According to my understanding, “hostdev mode='subsystem' “ is used with KVM only. We use this if we want to passthrough a device to a KVM virtual machine. After doing that, the host machine will lose control of the device. If container is

I am not sure why they are not listed on the main download page, but there are actually three Windows MSI releases after that:

Re: Cannot Write xvga=yes in xml file
Yes, I can use guest with this way, But when i hot-add my graphics card , Guest will reboot.
So i want to try it with <hostdev>. Somehow , If i use "hostdev" without xvga , my screen will be black.
If we have no hostdev, do you have other methods can help me to use hot-plug my graphics card?

Re: LXC + USB passthrough = Operation not permitted
Dear Fil,
I am not sure if my answer can help you.
I had ever asked a similar question to Daniel and I was using a thirty-party card. As a container uses a shared kernel with the host, so hostdev mode='subsystem' doesn't make sense. Maybe you can try to use hostdev mode='capabilities'. Please see http://libvirt.org/formatdomain.html#elementsHostDevCaps
Hope this helps

Re: [libvirt] Add support for vhost-user-scsi-pci/vhost-user-blk-pci
Hi Cole & Michal,
I'm sorry for my late response, I just end my journey today.
Thank your response, your suggestion is very helpful to me.
I have added Michal in this mail, Michal helps me review my initial patchset.

All concern about this feature is the XML design.
My original XML design exposes more details of Qemu.

Re: LXC + USB passthrough = Operation not permitted
I'd also like to point out that, when setting up a linux container with
_just_ the lxc tools available in ubuntu, all that was needed to be done
was whitelist the appropriate cgroups for the Android devices. The lxc
tools seem to create the appropriate character devices when you
detach/attach the Android device via USB, and the Android `adb` tool
recognized the devices.
So, a tangential

Re: PCI/GPU Passthrough with xen
I know these are mostly gamers but they have a lot of experience doing
PCI pass though: https://discord.gg/du9ecG
I have found them extremely helpful in the past doing libvirt PCI
passthough.
