[PATCH] m4: Add java search path for Gentoo
In Gentoo the java alternatives are managed using jva-config (or eselect java), but because the selection is treated as a configuration the symlink to the current jvm selected is stored in /etc, particularly in the symlink /etc/java-config-2/current-system-vm which works such as /usr/lib/jvm/default. [PATCH] java: support OpenJDK 10+
Starting OpenJDK 10, the 'javah' utility is no more provided [1], and its functionality is provided by 'javac' itself. Hence, do not error out on missing 'javah', and store whether it was found; in case it is not, then: 1) assume 'javac' has the -h parameter to generate the C header, and make use of it 2) tell the buildsystem that

[PATCH] configure: Move language binding detection to separate files.
This commit starts to split our massive, monolithic configure.ac file into smaller files, using the m4_include mechanism to combine them. I don't know if we should really do this, so I'm open to comments about it. However: - Our configure.ac script is 1800+ lines long, and that's pretty long. - configure.ac lacks structure; splitting it up might improve that. - From what I read,

java-1.6.0-openjdk.x86_64 keeps clobbering logging.properties
It appears that the rpm does not list the logging.properties as a config file, as such every time yum updates the file get overwritten. /usr/lib/jvm/java-1.6.0-openjdk-1.6.0.0.x86_64/jre/lib/logging.properties For now I have a cron job to replace it. Any suggestions? -- -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- -

Missing Java packages for java-1.6.0-openjdk under CentOS 5
When I compile some Java code I am getting this sort of error: "package org.apache.http.annotation does not exist" I am presuming that I am missing a Jar file in /usr/lib/jvm/java-1.6.0-openjdk.x86_64. Most of the Jar files in /usr/lib/jvm/java-1.6.0-openjdk.x86_64 come from one or another RPMs, most from the CentOS 5 distro RPMs. But I cannot figure out which RPM(s) I am missing.

[PATCH 2/2] configure: output paths where java is searched in
Output each path where we attempt to find 'java', so it is easier to spot whether the location for the current OS is missing. This also removes the need to print the location next to the version, since the location was already printed above. --- m4/guestfs_java.m4 | 6 +++++- 1 file changed, 5 insertions(+), 1 deletion(-) diff --git a/m4/guestfs_java.m4 b/m4/guestfs_java.m4 index

[LLVMdev] vmkit2 core dump after building mmtk
I guess I mispoke, I checked out the source from http://llvm.org/svn/llvm-project/vmkit/trunk. I thought this was vmkit2. I guess I was just referring to vmkit then. Using VMKit to convert Java Bytecode to LLVM IR
Hi, I wanted to use VMKit project to convert Java Bytecode to LLVM IR bitcode. But I do not know how to start, since I came to know that VMkit is written for llvm -3.3 version, but I want it for latest LLVM version 6.0.1. So, could you please suggest me, whether I have to write it whole project from scratch to meet my requirement of latest llvm version, or can use existing project by building

So nearly there, but can't install rJava
Thanks Dirk and Enrico, First clarification: I'm in this mess because I'm trying to run R 3.5.2 within Debian stable (9/"sretch") using the stretch-cran35 repository. That uses and provides r-api-35 but many of the packages depend upon r-api-3. As Johannes said a day or so back, the way around this is to use install.packages() in R to get the packages you want. That leads you

Java+Tomcat on CentOS 6.x
So whats good practice for installing Java/JDK and Tomcat for EL6 these days? The base repository included Tomcat6.6 is built with GCJ which I'd rather avoid. I'm fine with using OpenJDK ... Do most folks just use the Apache tarball for Tomcat and install it in a user directory or /opt/something ? -- john r pierce N 37, W 122 santa cruz ca
