Dragon Age on an ATI/AMD Video card
Has anyone successful played Dragon Age using an ATI/AMD graphics card? I have it running great on my Nvidia card with winetricks but not on my ATI HD 4870. All I get is a black screen with none of the models showing up ingame. Are ATI/AMD drivers still not playing nice with WINE?

Problem with VT-d on Mainboard Intel DQ45CB
Hello all, this mail is related to a post by Axel Schöner that I found at http://article.gmane.org/gmane.comp.emulators.xen.user/40621 when I was searching the WEB about solutions to my problem. I would like to confirm that VT-d with XEN 3.3 kernel 2.6.18.8 on mainboard Intel DQ45CB seems to be broken. Survey (details are down below) --------------------------------------- Whenever I boot my

Buying a graphics card for Wine: ATI vs nVidia
Hi all, I'm planning to upgrade my graphics card soon (I currently have a onboard Intel X3100) I'm using Wine to play games under Linux. (I'm currently running x64 Ubuntu, I'm considering switching to sidux / debian testing / gentoo) I currently play Warcraft III: Frozen Throne, Trackmania: Nations, Red Alert II (which is really slow) and want to play Generals (too slow to be

CentOS 7 on Dell Inspiron with ATI Radeon HD 6320 video card
Hi, I'm currently installing CentOS 7 on a client's Dell Inspiron laptop. Here's the video card: # lspci | grep -i vga 00:01.0 VGA compatible controller: Advanced Micro Devices, Inc. [AMD/ATI] Wrestler [Radeon HD 6320] Most of the time, I either have to deal with Intel or NVidia graphic chipsets. As far as I understand, I can choose either the free 'radeon' driver or the

4 monitors with one graphics card and standard driver
I've just test an ATI FirePro 2460 graphics card on CentOS 6.4. It connects 4 monitors. It worked with the standard radeon driver. I was able to arrange the monitors into my preferred configuration (as a square array, 1 upper left, 2 lower left, 3 lower right, 4 upper right) simply by clicking System -> Preferences -> Display, and then moving the four monitor images. This creates the

successful ATI card for WINE gaming?
Is there current or semi-current ATI video card that people are having good luck with for video games through WINE? I'm going to need a new card soon and we have had a long run of bad luck with the quality of Nvidia cards so I would like to give ATI a try. I know the driver improvements for Linux have been slow to arrive, but if anyone has a card they can recommend it would give me a

Video card suggestions
I am looking for a video card (preferably nvidia) that will do 1920x1080p (that is p not i). I need 1920x1080p, AGP 8x, DVI ----------------------- history is below: I prefered nvidia as they have a decent method of driver updates. I presently have the FX5200. It actually works at 1920x1080p but the nv driver locks up. I downloaded the nvidia drivers and they will not run at 1920x1080p. I

Slightly OT: PCIe x16 card in x8 slot
So, in the ongoing saga of the unusual 1U short-depth workstation, we have narrowed the field to two choices. Both entrants are configured with 16GB memory (4x4GB), two 2.5" drives (1x250GB SSD and 1x1TB HDD), and an NVIDIA NVS510 graphic card (quad display): 1) SuperMicro 5017R-MF, Xeon E5-2609 processor 2) SuperMicro 5017C-LF, Xeon E3-1220 processor (I wish SuperMicro had a list of their

Configure an ATI Radeon X1200 card?
Hi, I want to configure X on a NEC PC with an ATI graphic card. Usually, I do that by hand, e. g.: # init 3 # X -configure --> first draft # mv xorg.conf.new /etc/X11 Then I edit this with Vi, step by step. Usually, this works, but not for ATI cards. Here, the first draft only gives me a "vesa" driver... though xorg-x11-drv-ati is installed. But then, when I replace Driver

Re: ATI Graphics card
Regarding the topic of the thread I think they're not that different from each other nowadays. I've been using an ATi graphics card for over a year and it's running pretty well. NVIDIA graphics cards are better. But AMD graphics cards nowadays aren't as bad as they sound. They're nearly equal.

What is the motivation for choosing nVidia?
Dear developers I have just noticed your fantastic work, and I am looking forward to send you dumps of my GeForce 6150, when I get vacation in two weeks. It is an integrated GPU on my Asus A8N-VM CSM, so I hope it will work. The reason I post is, I am wondering what the motivation is for doing nVidia and not ATi? I have read the "FAQ:Why are you doing this?", but it doesn't

Which Nvidia Card ?
I'm a recent convert after a long affair flirting with Linux, I've currently got a Radeon x1950 and I would like to get away from ATI now that I'm sporting Ubuntu 8.04 and I'm curious what Wine users recommend from Nvidia? I can't afford the high end stuff I'm looking at Newegg in the $50 - $100 range, I run Steam Apps mostly, dabbled with WoW and WAR but neither are

Video Card
I want to be able to use a late-model video card with either Nvidia or ATI (AMD) chips that have the capability to use the GPU for numeric processing through the CUDA or AMD Stream SDKs. I can't find any good source for hardware that really works under Linux, not to speak of Centos. I need a specific model and brand that a user has successfully been able to use the proprietary driver for

OT: Need PCI only Video Card recommendation for use with WINE
The MB I've been using has a built in crippled ATI chip, since the manufacturer didn't see any need to support OpenGL. Yup, thats right, NO OpenGL support at all. Which means other than basic menus wine is pretty well stuck not working. The MB came with 2 PCIe X4 slots, 2 PCIe X8 slots, and 2 PCI-X/133 slots. You will note, there are NO PCIe X16 video slots. I've tried a
