Memory use and a few other things
Hello,
First of all thanks a lot for working on this free nvidia driver.
1.) I am using Fedora9-Beta, and on my NV17/64mb (or NV18?) powered
Laptop the nouveau driver uses about 300mb RAM. Is there any way I can
decrease that?
2.) Font rendering is very slow. running "x11perf --aa10text" I only
get 40k glyphs/s.
Is there any way I can improve text performance?
3.) I would like to

g_dbus_connection_real_closed when starting lightdm
Hi,
I made the switch from KDE4->XFCE, and because gdm takes more time
than xfce to start I would like to replace it with lightdm.
I installed lightdm, set it as default display manager and configured
the gtk greeter.
However, when I start I only get a black screen (x running) and
nothing else happens.
When I start it as root with the --test-mode argument, I get the
following message:

Nouveau fails to initialize G94GL / Quadro-FX1800 on aarch64 board
Hi again,
Some further digging revealed that NVPlatformProbe is called with the
flag PLATFORM_PROBE_GPU_SCREEN, so the flag XF86_ALLOCATE_GPU_SCREEN
is passed to xf86AllocateScreen.
After xf86AllocateScreen I end up with xf86GPUScreens == 1 and
xf86NumScreens == 0.
The xf86GPUScreens seems to be ignored by all the following code, only
xf86NumScreens is evaluated afterwards in xf86BusConfig:

Big files; Slow I/O
Hello,
wine has some issues when games are using big files, for example Guild
Wars - It's storing it's game data in one big file:
wdp at anni /games/Guild Wars $ du -h Gw.dat
3.6G Gw.dat
That results in very very slow i/o. It's not a file system issue (i
tried to higher read-ahead with hdparm, i changed from ext3 to xfs and
other games are running really fast on my box) thats

Nouveau fails to initialize G94GL / Quadro-FX1800 on aarch64 board
Hi,
I am trying to use a G94GL based card (Quadro FX1800) on an
arm64/aarch64 based board.
As the board is running linux-4.1.8, I had to apply the following
patches to get the kernel module / drm working:
https://lkml.org/lkml/2015/5/15/83
https://lists.freedesktop.org/archives/dri-devel/2015-July/085449.html
So far everything seems to work, the card modesets correctly, and the
kernel log also

Office 2007: Arial font problem
Hello,
I installed Office 2007 Professionnal and get an issue (Wine 1.1.42 on Ubuntu Karmic Koala 9.10). I tried to fix it by installing core fonts and so on but nothing changed. Please have a look at this screenshot:

As you see, the arial font looks awful. Did anyone managed to fix it ?

Font anti-aliasing in wine?
One of the things that DOES make a big difference for me is font-antialiasing (AA). (OK, maybe I am picky). Does anyone have experience/knowledge on that subject?
What surprises me is that for a few fonts (BitStream Vera Sans, for instance), it is active, whereas it is completely absent for most others. Why is that? (BTW, I just found out that I get the best results so far for the new MS font

Two identical copies of an image mounted result in changes to both images if only one is modified
Hi,
I''ve observed a rather strange behaviour while trying to mount two
identical copies of the same image to different mount points.
Each modification to one image is also performed in the second one.
Example:
dd if=/dev/sda? of=image1 bs=1M
cp image1 image2
mount -o loop image1 m1
mount -o loop image2 m2
touch m2/hello
ls -la m1 //will now also include a file calles "hello"
