Please attach Xorg.log when you have added 

Option "ModeDebug" "On"

to the Device section of xorg.conf, and also attach your video bios ROM, which
can be dumped using `dd if=/dev/mem of=myvga.rom bs=1k count=64 skip=768`

If you're still able to test it, it would be interesting to know if the same
problem happens when using the "nv" open source driver
