Fwd: [codec] WG Review: Internet Wideband Audio Codec (codec)
Hi everyone, Here's a follow-up on the two BoFs we've had about doing royalty-free codecs at the IETF. Well, the good new is that the proposal is now in IETF last call until January 20th (see below). No final decision has been made, so it's important to get as much support as possible for the Working Group proposal. You can see the ongoing discussion on the mailing list archive:

WineHQ.com moving today
FINAL NOTICE! We are going to shut down the old Winehq.com box today. This will happen at 9pm CST. At that time the new winehq.com box should be operational. But as with all DNS transfers, there may be delay as the changes propagate the net. If you can't get to winehq.com, use winehq.org instead. There will be no difference between the two domains. This is the final opportunity for you to

Sync use accounts between appdb, wine-bugs and wine-forums
Currently, I have two accounts : one for wine-bugs and one for appdb. That doesn't annoy me as it is, but that would be cool f those were merged together. I don't know if it is possible, since appdb, bugzilla and phpbb are three different php programs, but that would help new users to participate on every side of wine. By the way, I saw that my tr'd message went on a new thread on the

WineHQ.com Move Complete
The WineHQ.com move is complete, but not without some issues. The 1st issue is that our mailing lists (mailman) sent out a huge amount of email because the newsgroup gateway changed. It basically thought all the messages on comp.emulators.ms-windows.wine were new. Apologies go out to the users whose email inboxes we filled up. So in the meantime, the newsgroup gateway, and the NNTP server on

FAQ Topics
It appears that we need a Frequently Asked Questions document to go with our introduction of the Wine Fora to the mailing lists. I will start with the first topic: 1. Q. What is Wine and where do I get it? A. Wine is an Open Source implementation of the Microsoft Windows (TM) Application Programming Interface (API) for most Linuxes and UNIX variants, including Mac OS X. Wine is usually

Wine 1.00 the AppDB and State of the Winehq website.
In looking forward to the release of wine 1.0 I have a question about "Browse Applications by Rating" http://appdb.winehq.org/browse_by_rating.php When adding test data you can only add reports on what looks like the last 6 releases? Eg wine versions 0.956 / 0.957 /0.958 /0.959 /0.960 /0.961 Do these stat's on "Browse Applications by Rating" report this? If not what does

WineHQ.com server crash
On 10:00:12 CST the wine.codeweavers.com a.k.a www.winehq.com server suffered catastrophic hardware failure. The power supply suddenly decided of its own free will that the motherboard and all of the attached components needed 3x the recommended voltage (or something). wine.codeweavers.com (ver 3.0) on-line and operational. Sorry for the inconvenience of downtime. I now return you to your

Suggestions about the website of www.winehq.org
Hi, Dan, Thanks for your email. And please kindly see my comments below: Reply to topic 1):It is true that it is not leaglly suitable to copy MS fonts, however the open-source fonts (Wenquanyi, http://wenq.org/enindex.cgi) has been available for very long period, which also are probalble used by Fedora & Ubuntu as default Chinese fonts (even Asian/CJK fonts(maybe CKJ means "Chinese

WineHQ FAQs and authentication
I'm new here but not to computing. After registering for what I now know to be AppDB access, I discovered that a *different* login is required for the forums. What the?? I know everyone is busy, but could someone please update all of the WineHQ FAQs and/or registration pages to clarify this better. When you have time [Wink] install OpenRadius or some other shared authentication system. TIA!

Re: Re-proposal: web forums
Hello, I like mailing lists more than forums. But I think most "normal" computer users have a different view. That's why I like the idea of a wine forum. n0dalus wrote: > On 4/22/06, Paul <subsolar@subsolar.com> wrote: > >> I don't like web interfaces! >> >> No seriously, I don't have the time to spend going out and monitoring a >>

bug triage guide
Hello I was wondering if someone could put together a bug triage guide and put it on the wiki. I was looking for something to do tonight and z00dax said go hunt some bugs. So I went first to the wiki to look for a guide for a proper procedure on how the team would like bug triaging handled but didn't find one. I have triaged before but i know every place is different. So some guidelines

Re: #winehq admin abuse
Hi Jonathan, I'm changing forums here, as I don't agree that wine-devel is the appropriate place for it. I'm cc'ing vitamin, since he's being discussed. I'm also breaking a rule against top-posting, since I want to state my position up front: I agree that civility is important. I also agree that vitamin sometimes lacks tact. So let's look at the post a little bit:

Bug 13517: Forums breaking mailing list
http://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=13517 Is Wine going to have to lose even more experienced users over a stupid bug? Does WineHQ really value new users over those who have the knowledge and are willing to help? Let's move towards resolution on this and consolidate on Google Groups already, before it's too late. -- Paul Johnson baloo at ursine.ca -------------- next part
