rsync through ssh - i get an error

This means the socket closed. Does rsync even get started on the remote
system? That would be the first thing to investigate. If it is getting
run, does the remote process crash or die? If you are connecting with a
daemon process, you can look at the logs to

Empty subject
There is something wrong with the forum. If people hit "PostReply" button in the top-left the subject is not being populated. Considering that we get so many clueless people here who don't even bother to see if the subject is filled we got lots of broken posts.
Alternatively can forum enforce the non-empty subject line on replies?

backup system files (and permissions) over ssh
how do you backup system files like /etc/ over ssh to another machine
and keep permissions the same on the remote backup location ?
i tried using -a flag, but because i'm connecting through ssh i'm not using Rsync module on the remote computer and therefore i cant write files as root so -a flag is not working.
all the files are being written with owner SSH_USER and group SSH_USER_GROUP

Authenticating before tests
Hi all,
I''m using Goldberg, an engine that provides roles based access
control for my app. I need to login before I can do controller tests,
but I can''t find any examples of people doing this.
Could someone point me in the right direction?
I thought the simplest way would be to either call the login action
from my other tests before(:all), but I can''t seem to

Just starting to look at Goldberg and I like what I see so far. However,
there''s quite a bit in there. Anyone using Goldberg for production sites?
How is the security, flexibility, etc?
Thanks for any input you can provide!

Welcome to the "Xapian-discuss" mailing list
Hi,
I'm new to Xapian and wanted to know if it has a specific feature. I want
to be able to check the relation between two terms on a page based on how
close they are together on the page. I want to use a combination of n-gram
based labeling and the "slop" feature found in Elasticsearch. Does Xapian
have this/a similar feature? I haven't been able to find any programs that

Mailing list <-> forum gateway
Hi all,
First off - this is not flame bait or a troll. It's a genuine question.
Since the forum gateway was introduced, it is my opinion that this list
is getting flooded with newbie questions. Check the "I just installed
Ubuntu" thread for a typical example.
I wish to silently remove all wine-forum posts and their replies from my
inbox. I plan to filter based on

Reading large, non-tabular files
Dear R-help,
I have a very large ascii data file, of which I only want to read in selected lines (e.g. on fourth of the lines); determining which lines depends on the lines content. So far, I have found two approaches for doing this in R; 1) Read the file line by line using a repeat-loop and save the result in a temporary file or a variable, and 2) Read the entire file and filter/reshape it using

Hello,
we did some research and we would like to try to write a Tcl/Tk wrapper

Our goal is -

Metaplot Axis Annotation
Hello,
We are looking to adjust the font size of the axis annotation on the graph
that results from use of the metaplot() function. Metaplot seems to respond
to cex and cex.lab to change those graphical parameters, but it doesn't
respond to cex.axis. Is there a way to work around this by creating a
customized x-axis, and if so, how?
Thanks for all your help. Syntax is below.
Best,
