Bug#515156: Same bug after removal + reinstall
I ran into the same problem after somebody uninstalled logcheck and I re-installed it. It turned out that the ownership of /var/lock/logcheck where root:root - sudo chown logcheck:logcheck /var/lock/logcheck solved it. I see that there already is a check for the permissions in the postinst which (as far as I can see) *should* have fixed the permissions and ownership there. When re-installing

Bug#443908: /etc/logcheck/ignore.d.server/bind: [bind] unexpected RCODE (NOTIMP)
Package: logcheck-database Version: 1.2.61 Severity: wishlist File: /etc/logcheck/ignore.d.server/bind After #437891, I got yet another new "unexpected RCODE", this time "NOTIMP". As I was starting to get pissed off, I copied the whole list out of lib/dns/result.c, in an attempt to put an end to my headache. If you insist on using an enumeration instead of ".*",

LOG_AUTHPRIV and the default syslog.conf
Hello, Some time ago I wrote PR conf/48170, which discussed the following problem: Syslog messages of facility LOG_AUTHPRIV and priority LOG_NOTICE (or higher) are sent by default to the world-readable log file /var/log/messages. That seems unacceptable since the facility LOG_AUTHPRIV is for hiding sensitive log messages inside a protected file, e.g., /var/log/auth.log. For example, login(1)

Cisco 7940/7960 XML application hint
I don't know if this is already common knowledge, and it's not specificly for Asterisk, but if you are using Cisco phones and want to roll XML applications, make sure you have "Connection: close" in your HTTP header. Without it screen loads are very sluggish. In PHP, do: header("Connection: close"); I whipped up quick-and-dirty PHP/MySQL/Cisco XML directory and

my file transfers are incredibly slow
My problem is there I download and archive my work to the freebsd server via samba. When I'm transfering files from the windows -> freebsd I will get anywhere between 20-100kB/s and from freebsd -> windows I will get a few mbps. I'm getting no where near a full 100mbps and both ethernet cards are set for 100mbps full duplex working great. I've tried increasing buffer sizes on

ipf question
Hello. I am a relatively new FreeBSD user. I have samba, ssh and vnc server running on it. I am also trying to set up the IPFILTER on it. I used the handbook to familiarize myself with the software and the sample script provided in the chapter discussing ipf, I decided to use as a starting point. After reading the ipf chapter I assumed that if "block in log first quick on xl0 all" is

re: hardware requirement -asterisk
Referring to my previous post about degradation of voice quality when having more than 2 connection. The actual route is: pc xlite -> local asterisk box -> iaxtel -> local asterisk I have tried out a different situation: pc xlite -> local asterisk box -> iaxtel and the second connection pc xlite -> local asterisk box -> iaxtel -> local asterisk The same degradation

New Embedded Distro
Hi All, A couple of weeks ago I noticed Askozia PBX, which is a new embedded Asterisk & OS distro at http://askozia.com/pbx. This caught my attention for two reasons; it uses v1.4 of Asterisk, and it uses the m0n0wall development framework to build on FreeBSD with a PHP based GUI. I've used m0n0wall for years, and FreeNAS also, which shares the same OS/GUI framework. I booted the latest

Connecting ethX devices directly to a KVM/QEMU guest OS (no bridging)
Hello CentOS gurus, and a belated Happy New Year (or an early Happy Chinese New Year). I'm in the process of building a CentOS-6 KVM host machine whose only function will be to run four independent 'm0n0wall' firewall guest instances. I have a couple of quad-port Intel NICs to provide four WAN-side and four LAN-side ports, which will not be shared with any other guests. Remote

netbios name resolution stops working after device change
Hi there. This is with regards to samba-3.0.23c, on FreeBSD 6.0-RELEASE-p12 Previously I had Samba up and running without any problems. Then I decided to do a tiny upgrade by simply switching to a new motherboard, while keeping all other hardware and software aspects the same. However, after the upgrade, netbios name resolution seems to have stopped working somehow. \\servername lookups no

Segfault/panic with Samba 3.0.23d and setuid
Hi folks - I've been beating my head against the wall for a couple days on this issue, and I'm hoping someone here can help me. I've been running Samba successfully on Debian for some time now, and this problem started recently. I'm unable to determine what has changed on my system. Whenever I attempt to access a share the requires setuid (i.e. guest access), Samba panics and

SIP NAT + m0n0wall 1:1 mapping
I know a SIP client behind a NAT trying to peer with Asterisk behind another NAT is troublesome. Has anyone had any luck doing this by interfacing Asterisk to the WAN using 1:1 NAT translation to give it a public IP while still firewalled? In my instance I'm using m0n0wall, but this is a hardware-neutral question. Thanks. -- Robert Goodyear Brand Up LLC http://www.brand-up.com
