(no subject)
Hello all,
I have a very large file (280k lines) containing three comma separated
variables. The first variable is a 0 or 1 depicting a pass or fail. The
other two are X and Y coordinates. Is there a good way I can represent this
data in a chart/plot form other than using a 3d histogram? If I need to use
the histogram, should I base my chart off the example contained in the RGL
package?
Thanks a

thanks, and a question about week day scheduling
I''m a big "fan" of BackgroundRB ... 1.0 came along just when my project
needed it, and I''ve been very happy. Thanks much for this very helpful
piece of software.
My question: I have a worker scheduled cron-style as follows:
:notification_worker:
:notify:
:trigger_args: 0 0 8 * * 1,3,5 *
I.e., I want to run this particular worker method at 8:00a

Help with NLME
I am relatively new to NLME, so the solution to the problem I describe here
may be obvious. But I've spent several days trying to get the right syntax
to formulate random effects for this model appropriately. The full model is:
nlme(a ~ a.mitscherlich(a.qe, a.max, lcp, light),
data=light,
fixed = a.max + a.qe + lcp ~ trt,
random = a.max + a.qe + lcp ~ 1 | bench/line,

Compiling msm on Fedora Core Linux
Greetings all,
I'm trying to install the msm package and it is failing on compilation. The
problem seems to be the analyticp component? Any advice on how to get it to
work?
error message is below. I'm running R version 2.6.2 (2008-02-08)
x86_64-redhat-linux-gnu on a dell precision 690 with Fedora Core 8.
Thanks,

nlme on Windows 2000 (v1.8.1)
I have a problem with nlme on Windows 2000, and I'm having a devil of a
time determining whether the problem is with my computer or with
something in R. I'm running v1.8.1 on a Dell Pentium III with 512MB of
RAM and all of the recommended Windows 2000 updates applied.
If I use Rterm, I can run analyses with NLME to my heart's content. But
when I run Rgui, I encounter a floating

Multifractal detrended fluctuation analysis
Dear R-users,
Has anyone written a function for multifractal detrended
fluctuation analysis? The "fractal" package does mono-fractal DFA,
but not multifractal as far as I can tell. The MF-DFA approach is
presented in:
J. W. Kantelhardt, S. Zschiegner, E. Koscielny-Bunde, S. Havlin, A.
Bunde, and H. E. Stanley, "Multifractal Detrended Fluctuation

Dear R-help Listers,
The following two student competitions are of interests to the now many student R package developers. I'd appreciate your help in spreading them.

[PATCH] drm/nouveau/disp: fix DP capable DSM connectors
Just special case DP DSM connectors until we properly figure out how to
deal with this.
This resolves user regressions on GPUs with such connectors without
reverting the original fix.

Obtaining fitted model information
Dear list,
I am brand new to R and using Dalgaard's (2002) book Introductory Statistics with R (thus, some of my terminology may be incorrect).
I am fitting regression models and I want to use Hurvich and Tsai's AICC statistic to examine my regression models. This penalty can be expressed as: 2*npar * (n/(n-npar-1)).
While you can obtain AIC, BIC, and logLik, I want to impose the AICC

Best way to do logins by group?
Hello!
I'm setting up a fileserver, running RedHat and Samba 2.0.6. This
server will support about 80 people in several different departments,
who all work under the same main unit. Each of the smaller
departments has different requirements as far as shared resources.
So what I'd like to do is create a login.bat for each department, and
have Samba use it based on the group membership

need automake/autoconf help to build RnetCDF and ncdf packages
Greetings all,
I recently tried to install RNetCDF from within R (install.packages)
on Fedora Core 8 (with netcdf 3.6.2 and netcdf-devel 3.6.2 already
installed). This resulted in an error because the netcdf header files
are installed in /usr/include/netcdf-3 rather than /usr/include which
is where RNetCDF looks for them. This problem was described in a 2006
post (see below), but no

Multivariate Multilevel Model: is R the right software for this problem
Hello,
I've been trying to answer a problem I have had for some months now and
came across multivariate multilevel modeling. I know MPLUS and SPSS quite
well but these programs could not solve this specific difficulty.
My problem:
9 correlated dependent variables (medical symptoms; categorical, 0-3), 5
measurement points, 10 time-varying covariates (life events; dichotomous,
0-1), N ~ 900.

Enormous Datasets
Dear List,
I have some projects where I use enormous datasets. For instance, the 5% PUMS microdata from the Census Bureau. After deleting cases I may have a dataset with 7 million+ rows and 50+ columns. Will R handle a datafile of this size? If so, how?
Thank you in advance,
Tom Volscho

Mplus and R
Has anyone successfully linked Mplus and R and have code on how to do it? It
would be great to use R to simulate datasets and then ship to Mplus for SEM
analysis. I know one researcher who does this quite regularly but I can’t
get ahold of him right now.
Sincerely,
Jeff Miller

[Bridge] One NIC not bridging?
Hello,
I'm having a problem getting two (working) NICs enslaved to a bridge to both
work in the bridge.
The setup is just for testing and looks like this:
(NETWORK)-------|bridge|---------|test PC|
I'm building a bridge from an old Dell Optiplex GX1 desktop. Using
kernel-2.6.9-gentoo-r4, with bridging and ebtables compiled into the kernel;
the two PCI NICs are Intel, and the e100
