Problem with external monitor on laptop
I am running opensuse Leap 15 on an Alienware laptop. When I plug a
monitor into the HDMI socket xrandr shows that is disconnected. How can
I get the system to send an event or something so it will look and see
that a monitor is there. If I cycle power on the computer with the
monitor connected both monitors come up connected. The command xrandr
--auto does not bring the disconnected monitor

Strangeness on X11 screen capture
Hi all,
I am running CentOS 7 on a NUC5CPYB. Intel video:

When I take a screen shot I get "different" things.
I use:
export DISPLAY=:0.0
/usr/bin/xwd -silent -root -out screen; convert screen screen.png
I tried import also for the screen

Intel HD4000 IGD pass through appears to work, but monitor complains about 'no signal'
I''ve seen a recent report claiming that it works:

However, in my case, with a slightly different HW configuration the story
is totally different. :-(
My config:

Dualhead issue
Hi,
my primary monitor is a LCD HDMI2 and the secondary monitor is a CRT
VGA1. The CRT monitor is only turned on on demand, but always connected
by VGA.
The BIOS is shown on both monitors, but the syslinux menu only on the
CRT, as long as the CRT is connected by VGA. Even if it's turned off,
the syslinux menu isn't shown on the LCD connected by HDMI.

Video card suggestions
I am looking for a video card (preferably nvidia) that will do
1920x1080p (that is p not i).
I need 1920x1080p, AGP 8x, DVI
-----------------------
history is below:
I prefered nvidia as they have a decent method of driver updates.
I presently have the FX5200. It actually works at 1920x1080p but the nv
driver locks up.
I downloaded the nvidia drivers and they will not run at 1920x1080p.

CentOS6.5: disklessboot could not find ramdisk but CentOS6.2 :OK. CentOS6.5 has bug with dracut?
Hi
I have trouble with disklessclient with CentOS6.5 but 6.2.
I have been using disklessclient from CentOS6.2 well.
Both server and clients work with CentOS6.2.
Recently I set up PXE boot server with CentOS6.5 and has trouble.
I built vmlinuz and initrd.image in the same method I did for CentOS6.2

Is it safe to go from CentOS6.5 to CentOS 7 at this time
I am looking for opinions and personal experience on CentOS7 for both
grid and virtualized web environments.
I am currently on CentOS6.5 in a production environment.
I am about to add about 50 more servers to my grid and am trying to
identify the advantages and disadvantages of going to CentOS7.
The good part is, that I have some tolerance for backing out and
installing CentOS6.5 if 7 does not
