Latex editor recommendations
This question is not oriented towards R, but is posted here because I have the impression that there are at least some Latex users among the contributors. The question is: What editors for Latex are to be recommended? I have located one: http://www.latexeditor.org/ What other alternatives are there? I am (for the most part) using Windows XP. Tom

Age of Conan, Wine 1.3.23, Mac OS 10.6.7 ?
Age of Conan went free-to-play (sort of) recently, and I thought I'd give it a look. The AppDB entry and a search of bugs seems to indicate that it should mostly work except for some texture problems, but I can't seem to get past the installation. Configuration: * Mac OS X 10.6.7 * Wine 1.3.23 * Age of Conan web installer Process: * Created fresh WINEPREFIX by: "wine notepad"

R 3.0.2 and LaTeX changes
R 3.0.2 has some changes to work (or work better) with current versions of LaTeX style files: this can cause problems for those with older versions. So the main message is to update your TeX system: all of TeXLive 2013, MacTeX 2013 and MiKTeX 2.9 work as expected if up-to-date. 1) In around June the inconsolata package was changed, a lot, and changed again in July. For older versions things

Wine 1.3.24 and Age of Conan: Anybody made it work?
Hey all, Yesterday I compiled and installed 1.3.24, and after having done that I thought I'd give the new Age of Conan Unchained thingie a whirl, just to see if it worked. Long story short, it didn't. I was fairly sure the installer/patcher was doing its thing, because it was pulling some 8GB worth of data to my disk, but all the while it was doing it, all I got was a an empty window.

ginv and matlab's pinv give different results
Dear all; I'm kind of confused with the results obtained using the ginv function from package MASS and pinv function from Matlab. Accroding to the documentation both functions performs a Moore-Penrose generalized inverse of a matrix X. The problem is when I change the tolerance value, say to 1E-3. Here is some output from ginv 195.2674402 235.6758714 335.0830253 8.977515484 -291.7798965

Hi, I am trying to use R to mimic what I did in SAS. proc transreg data=x ; model identity(GSI)=monotone(group1); output out=d2 pprefix=M; run; Accroding to SAS documentation, the MONOTONE transfomation algorithm comes from (Kruskal 1964, secondary approach to ties). I have tried ace. it does provide some kind of monotone transformation, but it is not what I expected. Here is how

Returning Data Frame from Function for use Outside Function
I have a function (see below) that does some bootstrapping (I am happy to expand offline why I could use existing functions.) I put my results into and empty matrix and add a row of results with each iteration. My problem is i am a new user to R and I don't understand data frames, matrices, elements, and vectors well. What I would like is to have a data frame I can manipulate outside of the
