error installing lattice package
I just updated my Redhat EL systems to R-2.7.2, and tried to update my
packages as well. Lattice is one that failed. What do I need to do?

Samba can't find my @groups
Hello!
I've installed Samba as a PDC and followed all
documentations I've found helpful on the internet!
It looks like everything runs nicely now on my
Debian server with Linux 2.4.21 and Samba 3.0beta1
except when it comes to groups.
I have i.e. the following share:

path = /home/share/learning

Unicode troubles
Hi,
I've tried to follow all helpful tips I've found in the mailing-list
and I've applied these two utf-8 patches;
http://article.gmane.org/gmane.comp.search.xapian.general/2324
http://article.gmane.org/gmane.comp.search.xapian.general/1927
Now the QueryParser works as I wants it to do, and creates the terms
correctly. But sadly I can't find any documents. If I do this;

Proxy arp and pptp
Hi all!
I''ve set up a Linux box with shorewall doing proxy arp as per http://www.shorewall.net/shorewall_setup_guide.htm#ProxyARP the 5.2 (non routed) example. Everything is working great except for one thing, and that leads me to my question: is there a conflict between proxy arp and pptp? I''ve set the apropriate ACCEPT rules to allow tcp port 1723 and protocol 47 to the host

win95-98 problems
I've installed samba in my linux machine (Mandrake 7.2).
With WinNT and Win2000 there is no problems, but in Win95 and Win98 It's impossible to read files, and open exixting folders, the error is: "the file (folder) don't exist".
If I try to create one, It'isn't shown, there is an error, but if I go in machine with win2000 the folder(file) is there.
How can I resolve

Installing pkgs
Hello there!
I'm running R 2.7.1 in a "x86_64-redhat-linux-gnu" platform. While some
packages like "distrib" installed smoothly, I'm having problems to install
"nlme" and "lattice". I have tried both "install.packages()" and R CMD
INSTALL. For example,
[root at localhost Download]# R CMD INSTALL lattice_0.17-13.tar.gz

svyglm and sandwich estimator of variance
Hi,
I would like to estimate coefficients using poisson regression and then get
standard errors that are adjusted for heteroskedasticity, using a complex
sample survey data. Then I will calculate prevalence ratio and confidence
intervals.
Can sandwich estimator of variance be used when observations aren?t
independent? In my case, observations are independent across groups
(clusters), but

Bootstrap lmekin model
Hi,I use the 'lmekin' model of the 'kinship' package of R in order to estimate heritability. I want to estimate the confidence interval of the variance coefficient and so I should use a bootstrap simulation. The pedigree file has 1386 subjects so I create a kinship matrix [1386*1386].This is the code of R I use:
kfit2 <- lmekin(IT~1+AGE +(1|ID), dati1,

Problems with norwegian letters when browsing samba share.
Hello!
I have three machines, from witch I browse a samba share.
The problem is that if I create a cataloge with a norwegian letter(?, ?,
?) in it, the only machine that can show this correct it sthe machine
that created the cataloge. The other machines don't show this correct.
The letters get swapped out with either underscore or some other funny
looking letters, depending on witch

New package: noia
Hi the list,
A new version (0.92) of my package 'noia' will be available soon on CRAN
mirrors, and I think it might be a good opportunity to introduce it
shortly to the R community.
In summary: 'noia' will be of absolutely no interest for 99.99% of you.
The 0.01% remaining are quantitative geneticists who are interested in
measuring the effect of genes in a proper way.

Profiles on quota, hard or soft limit?
[i'm not subscribe to this list, please put me on CC...]
I've asked this on samba-it (italian) mailing list, but with no clue.
In my installation (debian sarge, samba 3.0.14a, kernel 2.6 and xfs
filesystem) i've put roaming profile on quotas, and something i think
strange happens.
The client say to the user that cannot update the profile, also if it
was under the soft (and hard)

bug in R CMD INSTALL do_install under OS X
Hi, I believe I've encountered a bug in the do_install function in the
script used by R CMD INSTALL. I'm using R 2.8.0 under OS X 10.5.5. I was
trying to install a package from source (the package gaga which I maintain,
which I checked and builds correctly for R 2.8.0) when I get the error
message

In fact, not limited to local files, but is limited to guests which
use ‘yum’. So I think the function needs a better name unless you're
planning to combine it with
customize/customize_run.ml:guest_install_command (which would be overkill).
