Asterisk Viruses?
The Skype network is circulating a virus that has appeared there
before:
http://www.informationweek.com/news/showArticle.jhtml?articleID=198500135 . The virus sends a URL to other Skype users in the infected user's contacts, which the target Skype displays as clickable. Clicking downloads the virus. Asterisk supports features like these, in combination with certain clients (which aren't

H.264 *Not Patented*
The H.264 codec patent by Qualcomm has been ruled invalid by a San
Diego Federal jury:
http://www.eetimes.com/news/semi/showArticle.jhtml?articleID=197001066 .
That means that H.264 codecs can now be written, distributed and revised
freely under any license their authors choose, including GPL, public
domain, or any other, and $free now that royalties are no longer
required.
How does H.264

lossless codecs in wireless headphones.

Many of you would be already aware of this. It mentions flac also. i feel it
is a good segment(stereo wireless headsets over bluetooth) to push flac
given very light decoder and using encoder at low compression(to reduce
complexity). Though very less is

Network Magazine 04/04/04 Article pg 19 (Free IP Telephony PBXs?)
* Brethren,
It's a sad day in our community. Please join me in a moment of silence for
the death of responsible journalism. Silence.....................good
enough.
This article goes on to tell about Pingtel's announcement of forming the
"first open source community aimed at creating SIP based servers".

Stun & codec
I have two phones, one does not need stun, the other one needs.
All settings are identically, except the number/password and said above
stun - not stun
I use codec in the order:
g729
g711u
g711a
Any ideas, why the user can hear me, but I cannot hear him (stun) while
the other user without stun has no problem.

mobile centrex solution
anyone know of a solution where mobile handsets out roaming the pstn
cellular network can be used and treated as full fleged centrex
extentions, i.e. I can transfer a call that comes in on a wired
centrex copper pair out to a cell phone and the cell phone can
transfer the call back or vice versa where the cell phone recieves the
call directly and can transfer to the office all without hairpinning

OT Linux/Gateway alternative for WAN compression/accelerator
I''m building a 10 branch/1 headquarter network with Shorewall/Linux as
gateway on all locations.
The TI guy asked me if there is a way to ''cache'' TCP/UDP traffic between them.
I crawled on Internet and I only find very expensive solutions for
this. Some of them appeared in this comparison article:

optimumvoice
Hi.
A friend of mine came asking about this VOIP provider.
I haven't heard of them so I thought I might ask the list.
Anyone has any experience using them (http://www.optonline.net/Home,
http://www.optimumvoice.com/index.jhtml)?
Not just with Asterisk, even with their supplied HandyTone and a regular
analog phone.
Thanks

Introduction...
I've been following this kist for a while now and I suppose I had better
introduce myself. This is going to be rather a long message, but that
can't be avoided.
My name is Andrew Baker and I work for a company called TeleDesign. We
are based in the UK.

World of Warcraft - ATi 8.41.7
Hi, I was playing around on my laptop last night and installed the
8.41.7drivers from ATi, my laptop has an X1400 in it, not the HD2400
that the
drivers were designed for so I understand some things may not function
correctly and will cover the observations:
1. Pixels shaders+Vertex shaders - I have to disable these or I get missing
elements from the screen, once tunred off it all renders ok

UPS not recognized
Hello,
Replaced UPS Kstar Micropower Micro 1200 (managed via blazer_usb) with https://www.njoy.ro/UPS/horus-plus-2000. The latter doesn't seem to be supported.
1. I tried blazer_usb and usbhid-ups. Any other suggestions? 2. What would be needed to get it supported by NUT?
