Help with ADS authentication and Samba
Hi there, just recently joined this list as I seem to be having a little trouble that I am hoping someone can help with. I recently installed a RHEL5.5 server and updated samba to samba3-3.4.11-42.el5.x86_64.rpm. I had never set up samba to authenticate with ADS so I read a little bit and dove right in. The server now works fine, so when I browse to \\machinename<file:///\\machinename> no

Logon logging logs
I'm looking for a simple solution to log a single entry for each login to a Samba PDC. My current attempt(s) of using a root prexec script in either the [netlogon] share definition or the [global] section are working, but not exactly as expected. In [netlogon] I have an entry: root preexec = /path/to/script/makelogonscript.pl %g %u %m %I ...where makelogonscript.pl generates a

Unable to modify TDB passwd ERROR
I'm trying to track down why I can't seem to add a computer to the domain. I've looked high and low to no avail. Right now, when I try to add the computer as a "trusted machine," I've added it to the Unix passwd dB with the appropriate machinename$ and the added the machine to the dmbpasswd via: smbpasswd -a -m machinename But, when I go to add the machine to the

I am currently having a problem setting up samba as a PDC for windows XP clients. I can see the samba server through My Network Places. If I try to access it I can after putting in one of the usernames and passwords I have set up using smbpasswd. I have added a machine

issues with printing
We have recently started having an odd problem with printing via samba (3.6.1). Samba is joined via security = ads to our domain. We do not use winbind on this system. Our account usernames are provided via openldap. User starts system (generally windows 7 64bit, but we've seen it on 32bit windows 7 and XP), sometimes they can print, sometimes they can't. If they reboot, they can almost

Samba + LDAP Windows Join Domain
Hello all, I have been working on this issue for some time and I know I am close to a solution. I am currently running samba 3.0.13. I have set the samba server up as a NT4 Domain controller and I have also integrated my LDAP configuration with samba. When I try to join the samba domain from any Windows 2000 or Windows XP machine I get the error message "The user could not be

SSSD cache case-sensitivity
Dear all, I'm running CentOS 7.3 with SSSD. I'm using sssd-ad to talk to an AD backend. Group names in the AD contain capitals. When sssd-ad is working normally, group names returned are all lowercase. However, when the AD backend goes offline, group names returned from the SSSD cache contain capitals. The change in case breaks stuff (sshd's AllowGroups, for one). Has anybody

problem adding server to domain using ldap
I followed the howto's that I could find and believe I am close. However, I'm getting a message from the Windows2000 box I'm trying to add to the domain that the user (administrator) doesn't exist. I have the machine name added to the ldap server with machineName$ as its UID. I have been able to add a win98 box to the domain and login as administrator so I know samba is using

Quickie : unload library
Dear list, I know it must be obvious and I did my homework. (In fact I've RSiteSearched with keyword "remove AND library" but got timed out.(why?)....) How do I unload a library? I don't mean getting ride of it permanently but just to unload it for the time being. A related problem : I have some libraries loaded at startup in .First() which I have in .Rprofile. Now, I exited R
