What do you use to provision domU's?
The subject says it all. I got CentOS 6.4 installed and then converted it to boot into the Xen kernel, using the C6.4 system as its dom0. But now I'm uncertain how to put a C6.4 domU on the result. Which tools are recommended?

Centos 6.5 on USB stick performance / stalls
Hi, I am running C6.5 64bit on an USB stick connected to a HP DL360G7; It is usually an ESXi host but eg for firmware updates (not available on SPP) I use this local installation. Problem are the lags and unresponsiveness we are seeing for example when running yum update in the installation phase. The whole system stalls but there is no io in vmstat. From what google tells us, this is a

bad iscsi performance after upgrade to CentOS 7.2
hi all, after i upgraded a physical server (SUN FIRE X4170) from CentOS 6.8 to 7.2 i am not able to get the same iSCSI read performance. the server is connected to HP P2000 Storage via 2 x 1GbE Ethernet. CentOS 6.8 gives me full read performance on raw iSCSI devices /dev/sdxx at 115MB/s. CentOS 7.2 allows only 90-100MB/s, read performance varies and is not stable like for 6.8 the multipath

Adjust disk image migration (NBD)
Hi all, As I am doing some tests with qemu, I realized that the way it does 'migrate -i tcp:DEST:444' is not the same as 'libvirt migrate --copy-storage-inc'. Basically qemu uses the same stream as RAM migration and libvirt takes advantage of NBD transfer. With virsh migrate-setspeed I observed that one can only control the transfer throughput of RAM, but not disk

A couple of 32-bit packages got no update in 6.3/x86_64
Namely: * hivex * hivex-devel * librdmac * librdmac-devel * sanlock-libs * sanlock-devel and maybe others. Is this on purpose (I don't know if upstream has removed or updated the 32-bit rpms, but the old ones are still in C6.3/x86_64), or is it just the usual sloppyness (I've been told here on previous occasions the biarch is a pain in the ass to maintain, nobody cares anyway,

RHEL 6.4 == FC?
I have read that v 6.3 is about Fedora 12. Now that v 6.4 has shipped (no I won't be dumb enough to ask when C6.4 we ship), what version of Fedora does it match up with?

abrt relevance?
I am trying to understand the relevance of the abrt program. It pops up automatically when somethings acts up, but I can't submit anything to RH, because I haven't paid their fees. It is a very bad user experience to go through the whole process of describing what led up to the problem and get to the end of the process and be rejected with an un-fixable error message (because I

Centos & USB3
I replaced my development machine with 6 cores, 32 GB etc. I thought it would be simply inserting the existing HDDs and changing /etc/sysconfig/ifcfg-eth0 but, * in the UEFI "BIOS" USB2 and USB3 work. * in C5.11 USB2 works but USB3 does not. * in C6.5 (my install disk; OS be updated to C6.8) USB2 works but USB3 does not. On both C5 and C6 lsusb shows an entry for the plugged-in

p2v conversion questions
Hi, I am in the process of converting a w2k8 physical server to C6.5 kvm. In reading https://access.redhat.com/site/documentation/en-US/Red_Hat_Enterprise_Linux/6/html/V2V_Guide/sect-V2V_Guide-Configuration_Changes-Configuration_Changes_for_Windows_Virtual_Machines.html It says that virtio-win rpm is required. I know that the virtio-win rpms are not available for Centos 6.5 but the drivers are

CentOS 6.4 apparent rpm problem
Well, after three days of beating my head against my desk, I'm waving the white flag.? I've got a CentOS 6.4 box (yeah, I know) that I blew away the OpenLDAP client and installed the freeipa-client as we're transitioning off this terrible OpenLDAP implementation here.? Everything installed fine, and while I'm still tweaking the ansible playbook for completely flushing PAM and
