prototype: leak with Element.extend
Had a nasty memory leak that was seriously slowing down the browser and eating up a couple megabytes every reload. I was using: $$(''.dyntable'').each(function(elm) { new DynTable(elm) }); To set up my behavior, but discovered that just running: $$(''.dyntable''); Caused the memory leak all by itself. The fix I found for it was to change Element.extend to a

lightweight effects with prototype
i came across this today and thought some people might find it useful. Its a 3Kb somewhat replacement for effects.js it looks like. If all you need is basic effects, at 3KB you cant beat this little JS helper. http://moofx.mad4milk.net/ Enjoy adam

Prototype error - iterator is not a function
I''m starting to learn to use Prototype (v1.5.1.1) along with Mootools. However I keep bumping into the same problem: All of the inserts result in the error "iterator is not a function" at line 542 of Prototype memo = iterator(memo, value, index); Am I missing something obvious here? I''m wondering if there''s an incompatibility between Prototype and Domino

"onload" event handler inside a div
Hi. I need help on what is essentially putting an "onload" event handler into a div. I am using render :partial and when the partial is loaded, I would like the divs to show using an effect from a library such as scriptaculous or moofx. However, there is no "onload" for a div. I was wondering what alternative methods I should use to achieve this. Thanks! -- Posted via

vista on mongrel
Hi, I have installed mongrel on Vista and my app runs *really* slowly. Checking Net stats in firebug shows each html request for the assets taking ~1s. Running same app on XP is fine and running as webrick on vista is fine too. There is also a strange pattern : each of the http requests to mongrel take marginally more than 1s, e.g. 1.04, 1.05 on webrick each request takes ~ 4-40ms. Very odd

boot: ext3 fs not supported by kernel
I am running 2.4.18-3. I am getting terrible performance. I noticed in the boot.log that my / fs is ext3 and my kernel does not support ext3. I have tried to recompile the kernel with ext3 support. It did not seem to work. (e.g. lags for 40 or so when i am unzipping multiple files) Firstly, is this likely to be the case of my problems? How can i fix it? Do I just recompile the kernel or do I need

edge case concerning NA in dim() (PR#13729)
Full_Name: Allan Stokes Version: 28.1 OS: XP Submission from: (NULL) (24.108.0.245) I'm trying to use package HDF5 and have discovered some round-trip errors: save, load, save is not idempotent. I started digging into the type system to figure out what type graffiti is fouling this up. Soon I discovered that comparisons with NULL produce zero length vectors, which I hadn't known was

moofx - scriptaculous
I was wondering whether somebody could point me to some documentation on how I would convert a moofx class to scriptaculous. Please see this very basic class: fx.ScrollThumbs = Class.create(); fx.ScrollThumbs.prototype = Object.extend(new fx.Base(), { initialize: function(el, options) { this.el = $(el);

Anaconda doesn't support raid10
So after troubleshooting this for about a week, I was finally able to create a raid 10 device by installing the system, copying the md modules onto a floppy, and loading the raid10 module during the install. Now the problem is that I can't get it to show up in anaconda. It detects the other arrays (raid0 and raid1) fine, but the raid10 array won't show up. Looking through the logs

Prototype Features?
Hi, I am new here and since I am looking for an Ajax framework (free or commercial). I am wondering if there is a features list on what prototypes can do as of current release?... js filesizes too bookoo?
Howdy, I use scriptaculous (and therefore prototype) to do mostly page effects, no drag-n-drop, no sliders, etc. Just wondering if there''s a way, other than modifing scriptaculous.js, to not include all of the scriptaculous libraries for my app? Also, is there a "lite" version of prototype that you can use with sciptaculous like there is with mooFX? Thx, Dave -- Posted

Naming Conventions
So, RoR is better at grammer than I. Well so is my nine year old. If I have a table named "people_type" will Rails see this as singular because of the _type or will it consider it the plural of "person_type" ? Is there a link to Rails that lists what words it knows, or what words not to use in table design etc. Kindest regards. -- Posted via http://www.ruby-forum.com/.

OpenSSH on PalmOS possible?
A thought has been bugging me for a month or so, but I don't know where to look for the answer. Would it be possible to port the OpenSSH ssh client to PalmOS and other handheld OS'es like Symbian (EPOC) or PocketPC? Is the processor on PDA's fast enough? Would many libraries have to be ported aswell? I know that PalmOS and EPOC has an IP stack implemented.. Since the development
