Thomas script.aculo.us (important bug and add ons)
Sorry. Posted from wrong email originally. Moderator, please ignore other
post. Thx.
To Thomas Fuchs,
First of all, thanks for your amazing scripts on script.aculo.us. You''ve got
quite some talent. I knew I was in for a treat when I read your goals
(mainly about simplicity). My goals exactly. Keep it simple is great when
you''re trying to integrate 100 different things.

InPlaceEditor crash on Safari
Quick question..
I often crash my Safari when using ''Enter'' on InPlaceEditor''s for
submitting.
Works fine on firefox(win & Mac) - no javascript errors.
Anyone else seen this behavior?
(Maybe it is just my alterings of InPlaceEditor :-)

RE: Question about event listener highlighting withchild elements
1. Create a separate class that has your highlight/unhighlight behavior
in it, and extend just the element you want to highlight with that
class... like this (also allows you to easily apply this behavior
elsewhere when you need it in the future):
Object.extend(this.el, HighlightBehaviorClass.prototype)
2. When defining your event handlers, assign them to variables so you
have a

Small patch to Effect.Highlight
I sometimes highlight a div that originally has no background colour.
The current Effect.Highlight will leave my div with a white
background, and it was not quite right for my purposes.
My one-line-patch is simply to add the afterFinish option if there is
no current background colour (insert at line 268 of effects.js
rev:1756)
if ( !current ) options.afterFinish = function(effect){

RJS Javascript oddity - trying to call Element.setStyle
Hi all,
I have a really simple web page. Right now, it''s just a button and a square
div. What I want to do is to change the background color of the div to red
when the button is clicked. My form code looks like this:
<%= form_remote_tag :url => {:action => ''color_show''} %>
color_show.rjs looks like this:

R-latex syntax highlighting?
Hello,
Can anyone provide or point me to a good setup for the listings latex package that would produce nice R-syntax highlighting?
I am using an example I found in internet for setting up listings like this:
\lstset{
language=R,
basicstyle=\scriptsize\ttfamily,
commentstyle=\ttfamily\color{gray},
numbers=left,
numberstyle=\ttfamily\color{red}\footnotesize,
stepnumber=1,
numbersep=5pt,

Question about Classes.
I have the attached class that I''m writing. The problem that I''m
running into is that I can not access the options from the createArray
function which get called after the ajax request gets done. I want to
move the values of the xml file to an array and story it in the options
variable. Can someone explain what I''m doing wrong?
var LeaderInfo = Class.create();

Question about event listener highlighting with child elements
I have created a JavaScript object which is initialized for some input
fields, fieldsets, and divs on the page. With each object i attach a
mouseover and mouseout event that highlights and un-highlights. Also on
mouseout i am trying to display the id of the object to a console. The
highlighting works except for cases when an object is the child of another
object. In this case both are highlighted

highlighte
hi,
i''ve just started using script.aculo.us visual effects, lots of fun.
i was wondering what the best and most efficient way would be of
achieving something along the lines of fade anything technique (FAT,
http://www.axentric.com/aside/fat/) whereby an element''s background
fades away from one color to the element''s native background-color.
(for example, you get

obtaining table cell text data
I''m writing some code to subset a table based on the contents of
particular columns. My event handler starts off like this:
subsetChange: function(e) {
var subset = $F(''subsetSelector'');
var rows = $$(''.content-row'');
rows.each(function(row) {
var value = row.down(''.Platform_Category'').childNodes[0].data;

Updated the xml code to be more object-oriented
I changed the code to be more prototype-esque, and created a class
called XMLDoc. I may add more functionality to it later, hence the more
generic name, but you do something like this to convert XML to a hash:
XMLDoc = Class.create();
Object.extend(XMLDoc.prototype, {
initialize: function (xmlDoc) {
this.element = xmlDoc;
},
asHash: function () {
if (! this._xmlHash) {

background colour
Dear list,
I am using R 2.6 on a Windows XP machine.
I divided my device window and tried to set the backgroundcolor for each plot region/figure region separately. This seems not possible?? A simple example:
# create random numbers
a <- rnorm(100)
# divide device window
par(mfrow=c(1,2))
# set the backgroundcolour to "red"
# this always affect the total device

syntax error, unexpected '\n', expecting tASSOC
Hey all,
I get the following error. Now I know it''s related to a curly brace, but
it seems that all curly braces are properly in place. So I''m not sure
why I get this error:
SyntaxError in DashboardController#panels
rails/app/controllers/dashboard_controller.rb:170: syntax error,
unexpected ''\n'', expecting tASSOC

You''ll probably want to make sure the tr elements are TR tags and the
same for the td''s, as empty text nodes are inserted randomly by the
gecko engine (and maybe others).

sorting error "Error: item.id has no properties"
I''ve got some sorting working now, but when the page loads and when I
drag, I keep getting this error:
"Error: item.id has no properties"
My <ul> and <li> elements all have ids. Do child elements all need ids?
Here''s the code from dragdrop.js where the error is being thrown ( a
few lines from the bottom of the file, line 501--HEAD version)

problem with effect toggle - please help
Hello,
I''m having the following code below - when I click on the button in order to
toggle a div, it is working when the div is visible - after it is toggled
once, the beforeStart stuff isn''t executed anymore!
interestingly, when I change this Effect.toggle(this.bContentWrap, ''blind'',
{
to this: Effect.toggle(this.bContentWrap, ''slide'',

serialize()
Near the end of the Sortable.serialize() method, there is a split
command that splits on an underscore. What is the convention it''s
following here and is it documented somewhere?
Thanks,
Jamie

element = $(element);
var sortableOptions = this.options(element);
var options = Object.extend({
