NAMESPACE problem: import(zoo) but 'zoo' could not be loaded
Hello: I'm having problems creating a real NAMESPACE to replace the pro forma one in the fda package on R-Forge. "R CMD check" complains, "Error: package 'zoo' could not be loaded ... there is no package called 'zoo'"; see below. I get this both with and without "import(zoo)" in NAMESPACE. Suggestions? Thanks,

install.packages with R 2.9.1 under Vista?
What do I need to do to get "install.packages" to work properly for me in R 2.9.1 under Vista? Currently, install.packages in Rgui 2.9.1 by default goes to "C:\\Users\\sgraves\\Documents/R/win-library/2.9". This is a problem for me, because R running under Emacs does not currently look there. I made the mistake last night of first installing R 2.9.1 in the

upquote.sty in Fedora 21
My CMD check server started failing after upgrading to Fedora 21: LaTeX errors when creating PDF version. This typically indicates Rd problems. LaTeX errors found: ! LaTeX Error: File `upquote.sty' not found. The problem was easily resolved by installing texlive-upquote. Perhaps this package should be included as a dependency to the R-devel package?

R Tools & Vista_x64: Problem compiling RMySQL?
Hello: What do I need to do to compile R packages (especially RMySQL) for the 64-bit version of R 2.12.0 under Vista_x64? I upgraded to "Rtools212.exe" yesterday but immediately got errors from "R CMD check RMySQL_0.7-5.tar.gz". After the first error, I installed it a second time, then got "undefined reference to" roughly 50 different names beginning

Rgui maintains open file handles after Sweave error
Hello Folks, When I run the document below through sweave, rgui.exe/rsession.exe leaves a file handle open to the sweave-001.pdf graphic (as verified by process explorer). Pdflatex.exe then crashes (with a Permission Denied error) because the graphic file is locked. This only seems to happen when there is an error in the sweave document. When there are no errors, no file handles are left open.

RODBC sqlSave / append problem (windows XP, R 2.13.2)
Dear All, Using RODBC I have read in a (429 x 11) dataframe from Access, and would like to append two columns of transformed data (429 x 2) to the original table (thereby making it a 429 x 13 table). I would ideally like this to be the same name etc as the original table in Access. I have used the following command: R>

Sweave files generating miktex errors
Dear useRs-- I have been using Sweave with miktex for years, but on a new install on Windows XP, miktex seems to be hung up on single quotes. See example below. Digging through stackexchange, I found using \usepackage[noae]{Sweave} in the tex file solved the problem. My questions are: --Why would this happen? I have the ae package installed. --If inserting [noae] is the solution, how do I

Extra "Note" in CRAN submission
When I run R CMD check on the survival package I invariably get a note: ... * checking for file ?survival/DESCRIPTION? ... This is sufficient for the auto-check process to return the following failure message: Dear maintainer,

Adding R's texmf to tetex's texmf
Hello! I use Sweave for a report and up to now I always copied Sweave.sty to a folder where I have the report. But this can be done better (or did I miss anything) with * extension of TEXMF variable in texmf/web2c/texmf.cnf or * linking /usr/lib/R/share/texmf to somewhere in /usr/share/texmf I tried with the following and I didn't need to put Sweave.sty in folder with a report: cd

problem with looping on sqlSave()
Dear R users, I have a follow-up question on sqlSave(). Since most of the output from the tests I use are lists, I would like to loop to export each element of the list and append it to the sheet. Here is what I do: > library(RODBC) > test <- structure(list(m = structure(c(0.090909090909091, 0.181818181818182, 0.272727272727273, 0.363636363636364, 0.454545454545455,

Rtools questions
Hello: 1. How can I tell when the development version of Rtools has changed? For the past few years, I've installed the development version of R tools with each new release of R. I encountered problems with this a few days ago, so I rolled back to Rtools212.exe. Unfortunately, I seem to have more problems with that version. My latest install was under Windows 7 Home Edition.

RODBC, Excel, and data truncation when writing
Hi, I am hoping to use the RODBC package to write a dataframe to an Excel .xlsx file. The dataframe contains at least one field with character elements that exceed 255 bytes, which appears to be the cell width limit in Excel. Below is example code and the warning message received: library(RODBC) d <-
