mapping mux vector question
Hello everybody
According to "vorbis-spec-ref.html"
paragraph: "mappings", the vector [vorbis_mapping_mux]
should contain the following:
4.
if [vorbis_mapping_submaps] is greater than one, we read channel multiplex settings.
For each [j] of [audio_channels] channels:
1. vector [vorbis_mapping_mux] element [j] = read 4 bits as unsigned integer
2. if the value

Questions about the accuracy of the spec
Hello,
I have three questions, though all of which already mentioned by other people in the mailing list,
about the accuracy of the Vorbis I Specification published on Feb 27.
1. On page 34 section 4.3.4., explanation of the situation where there are only one submap is omitted,
and it is difficult to understand that the decoder should assume in such cases that all the audio channels belong to

Problems with dovecot/sendmail combi.
Hi,
I am really stuck here. I am trying to setup imap for an external mail server. I have a freebsd server running sendmail / dovecot. I am transfering the existing mail from an exchange 2003 server to the mailserver using imapsync. This works fine, but gives errors when it tries to make a submap, also thunderbird gives an error "Mailbox doesn't allow inferior mailboxes" when I try

to stereo or not to stereo .. that is the question
hello,
a very short while ago there was a brief discussion when to use stereo
and when to use mono.
as you know, Radio France kept its word and now is webcasting in ogg. In
total Radio France (through tv-radio.fr/ycast.com) is webcasting eight
different stations, using the ogg format.
on http://cuba.calyx.nl/~oink/oggstreams/rfoggstreams.html you can find
all the streams with m3u files and

Mono encoding w/ a stereo source.
Crew,
I've run into something a little odd with the vorbis encoder and would
like some input.
I use SpacialAudio's SAM3 Broadcaster and am having problems with the
ogg encoder when I create a mono output stream. It seems as if the
signal level of the left and right sides are being combined before the
encoding process, leaving the sound muddy and overdriven. As such, if I

Why Point-Stereo at 160 kbps ?
Hi there !
I checked Vorbis' performace for mono files at
approx. 64-80 kbps (it does a good job) and I'm
wondering why the current OggEnc still uses
Point-Stereo (>10kHz) for -q4 and -q5
I know, we're usually unable to percieve those
phase correlations above 10 kHz, But a
Dolby Prologic Decoder isn't.
I think a future version of OggEnc which is able
to use a user-selectable

Stereo changes in exp_stereo
Hi,
I've been doing several stereo changes in the exp_stereo branch and I
think it's now ready to be merged. Could everyone who care about stereo
try the exp_stereo branch and report any problems before I merge it in
the master branch?
Thanks,

Stereo <-> Mono
Hi,
Does Celt (in particular version 0.7.1) exploits correlation between the
two channels in stereo mode?
In practice, is it possible to use the two channels as two mono signals
without affecting quality?
Thanks

Artifacts in One Channel of Stereo C55x Implementation
Hi guys,
I am on a C55x stereo implementation of CELT 0.7.1; I am using 100 sample
frame size and writing 58 Bytes per Packet. At the output of the decoder I
see one channel reconstructed perfectly, but the other channel has random
corruption that appears to be a sinusoid with a period of the frame size.
The artifact is non-periodic and appears to happen randomly during the audio
stream.

Opus Stereo for Speech
Hi,
I have a question regarding the stereo capabilities of Opus. I would like to establish a connection between two ends via Wi-Fi and the signals that are to be transmitted are of speech kind. It mean on both ends speech is both recorded and played back as stereo. Now would the delay and loss characteristics of the speech transmission at a certain bitrate be the same as Mono voice transmission?

This bleed-over should not be possible with the CELT layer (_especially_
not during silence), but it is possible with the SILK layer. 1.1 added

Stereo voice not being retained
Hey Kevin!
Once you start dropping under (I think) 32kbps, the codec naturally
starts losing stereo separation for the benefit of quality.
If you really want perfect stereo at 16kbps CBR (this is horrifically
low in my opinion) you might be better off splitting the audio and
encoding each part at 8kbps CBR.
Or, there may be a magic "enforce 100% stereo" one could pass? (doesn't
