ID50 i) comparisons ii) dose.p vs Reed-Muench
I'm analysing some ID50 data for 2 different groups and had already
calculated this by hand using Reed-Muench formula, when I came across the
dose.p function in R.
I have 2 queries:
1) dose.p gives me a different answer to Reed-Muench, and actually I suspect
wrong answer, given that the dose.p result dosage stated to infect 50% is
actually stronger than the dose used in my experiments caused

Looking for Rail Developer to speak at a college
Hello everyone,
I wonder if there is anyone who live around Alexandria, Virginia, US who
would be interested in coming to my college and give a short speech /
introduction to students about Ruby on Rails. It does not have to be formal
but you can just show them why Rails would be a much better choice for
projects instead of ASP and J2EE they are teaching here.
It would be even better if you are

Data source for American college football rankings?
An interesting, and topical, example of multivariate data for
classroom illustrations are the American college football rankings.
Starting at the end of October (or "week 8", the 8th week of the
football season) a set of rankings called the BCS (Bowl Championship
Series) will be published. This is a composite ranking based on two
subjective polls, the Harris and USA Today polls, and a

College student printer for CentOS 5.4 x86_64?
Oldest son came back from college and wants a printer for his Dell
laptop. I built it with CentOS 5.3 x86_64 several months ago and will
upgrade it to 5.4
The Cannon printer he now has (bought with the laptop and Vista through
the university book store), doesn't seem to have linux drivers. I built
the machine with Vista and CentOS in dual-boot, so he could manage his
iTunes and use the

Build Portland Group Compiler
Hi,
I built R with Portland Group compiler, but I noticed one thing that
when I ran configure for the first time on AMD machine, I got the
following error:
checking whether the C compiler works... configure: error: cannot run C
compiled programs.
If you meant to cross compile, use `--host'.
See `config.log' for more details.
so I tried to set host=x86_64-unknown-linux-gnu,

CentOS 5.5. He uses Win7 to manage his iPod and SW that sometimes
issued by a professor for a specific course...otherwise he uses CentOS
for everything else. That setup worked well last year, except for
printing. He has a low-end Cannon printer that is not supported in the
Linux realm.
Most of his coursework was uploaded to
