Some questions concerning IPtables (& IMQ/SFQ)
Hi there! Some questions I couldn''t find an answer for: IPtables: - Is it possible to filter those ACK-packets (to eleminate problems with ADSL-connections) with IPtables? It wasn''t possible with IPchains, so u32 had to be used. Now there is this nice little --tcp-flags option. But I just don''t know if this is all I need. The u32 was checking for packetsize too. So if

When the inside functions of a sfq are called ?
I read the sched/qdiscs code from kernel source ... and I have some questions : When the .enqueue, .dequeue, .drop, .requeue functions are called ? What is the event that triggers them and how often this event apears ( per second ? ) ? When a qdisc is dequeued ( when it''s limit is reached ) ? sfq, queue len and dropped packets
Hi If I use sfq qdisc on a CBQ class I get a lot of dropped packets and the backlog itr almost always to its full value: 128. From the HOWTO I understand that the queue is at 128 packets, and SFQ shows 128/1024 flows , but how can I increase that value ? I have tried ip link set txqueuelen but this only increases the tx queue on the interface. qdisc sfq d468: quantum 1514b limit 128p flows

More on qdiscs
I notice one other small problem with my modified version of SFQ. The fact that packets can be dropped at dequeue time is incompatible with the way HTB (and probably CBQ and others modeled on it) keep statistics. When I fill a low rate queue causing packets to expire and be dropped at dequeue I get interesting statistics like this: This is my variant of SFQ qdisc plfq 8016: dev eth1 ... Sent

HTB/SFQ dequeueing in pairs
I set up a little test to see what the behaviour of (e)sfq was - because I couldn''t work it out from the source :-) . I wanted to see where from a slot the packets got dropped when the queue was full. (e)sfq drops from the longest slot to make space for an incoming packet, so it''s not tail drop as such, but the results show me it does drop from the tail of the slot - which

Could anyone explain the slot and bucket concept in SFQ to me?
Dear all, I''m reading codes in sch_sqf.c in kernel 2.4 of Linux. I find I messed up with the concept of slot, bucket and hash tables. Could anyone explain the data stucture of the hash tables a little to me. Thanks very much. Best, Franklin BTW: I can not understand why the number of entries of dep[SFQ_DEPTH*] should be twice:( _______________________________________________ LARTC

Depth-argument for sfq?
I''m not a programmer per se (including C), but... I''d like to be able to give the define in sch_sfq.c (of, say, 2.4.20), SFS_DEPTH other values than 128 as an argument on the tc commandline. It could be powers of two up to 2^7 (128) as it seems that 128 is the current maximum. I''m a little anxious to ask the question "How do I do that?" ;-) Instead

Mechanism for Enqueue and Dequeue?
I''ve been reading the Linux Advanced Routing & Traffic Control Howto and it''s well put together but I''ve a few questions about the mechanism. I dont'' think that I''d have any questions if I just wanted to know how to configure the Shaping method but I''m trying to get into the nuts and bolts. Basically I''m trying to find out the

QoS and CLASSIFY
Hi Guys After googling a little I couldn''t find the correct answer.. When I use : tc filter add dev eth0 parent 1:0 protocol ip prio 1 u32 match ip dst 192.168.0.11 flowid 1:30 , I can shape traffic to 1:30.( works like a charm) Now instead tc filter I would like to use CLASSIFY as below: iptables -t mangle -A POSTROUTING -o eth0 -d 192.168.0.5 -j CLASSIFY --set-class 1:30 but when I

[ANNOUNCE] sch_ooo - Out-of-order packet queue discipline
Hello! I like to announce sch_ooo, a new queue discipline that, attached to a class (or a device, as root) reorder the packets that pass by delaying some. Example: tc qdisc add dev eth0 root ooo limit 100 gap 4 wait 1100 This queue will create a pfifo with limit 100 and will delay every 4th packet with 1100ms. An stream of 6 packets like this: 1 2 3 4 5 6, generated by ping will be reordered

Watchdog timer and packet enqueuing
Hello everybody, I''m implementing a qdisc for my MSc thesis and I''ve experienced some issue maybe you can help me with. The discipline is simply a slotted max-weight in which any user has a Ceil Rate they mustn''t trespass on. Being such a discipline non-work-conserving, I''ve to set a watchdog timer in order to allow further call of the dequeue function.

FW filter unused/unloaded ???
Hi all. I''ve written a small htb script that uses U32 and FW (marked by IPTABLES) filters, but TC doesn''t seem to be using the "cls_fw.o" module !!! I''m using redhat v9.0, kernel 2.4.8-20, iproute 2.4.7-7. Here is my script: ========================================================== ##################### #Interface definition #####################

need help with tc filters
Hi, I am attempting to set up some simple outbound shaping following the LARTC HOWTO. The HTB qdisc seems to work as the documentation says, but my filters don''t seem to be working. All of the packets go to the default queue regardless of what filters I set, it seems. (according to tc -s qdisc show) I am trying to get this working on my openwrt box (whiterussian rc6), but when
