Open Source Content Management System - Joomla
There was some discussion in the past about which one is the best
Content Management System that can be used in conjunction with Asterisk.
Mambo was supposed to be the best out there under GPL. The guys who
developed Mambo have a new product now - Joomla. I am using this and it
appears to be better than Mambo in many respects. Read the gist about
Joomla below.

Goodbye Windows?
Hi.
I know that Linux provides most of the softwares we need for business, equivalent of Outlook, MS Office, IE, ... but :
Is it realistic to think that we can delete Win XP, and use Wine with Linux, for a professional use, with :
- All Adobe, with the ICC profiles (I use Monaco EZcolor for the calibration).
- CMS like Joomla and a lot of plugs-in, and a few tools for webranking.
I hope the

MultiLingual option for site with Rails
Hi,
I was wondering if there is a plugin or a code snippet, that would
translate the static content [possibly dynamic too] on the website for
the visitors coming from different geographical regions of the world.
In one of my earlier projects, I used the plugin on Joomla [CMS] that
auto translates the content.
Here is the site, the plugin is at the left bottom.

Looking for input
Hey All,
First off, congratulations to David and the others who worked on the 0.3.4
release and Happy Thanksgiving!
There's been some discussion in the forum on the design and functionality of
the compiz website and I'd like to get the opinion of David and any others
who have an interest in this topic.
My first question is to David. You indicated that you were interested in

Any CMS for Ruby on Rails..
Well i want to make a photography community site on the lines of
www.gfxartist.com , www.terminus1525.ca, www.phirebrush.com
Where the community votes for every subbmission from a artist and can
comment (like a forum)..
Now gfxartist has used probably SMARTY,php, and their own CMS.
terminus used Drupal,Gallery 2.Some one tells me that this combo is
heavy on resources and slows down sites.

user/password Authentication via Joomla database
Hi,
I think there is no reason to be offlist.
Your setup should work, only problem could be the freebsd userid. My
setup has only one user for all accounts and no "real" users. I only
have a vmail user.
Maybe a tutorial for dovecot and mysql only would help you ( I don't
have a link here, but google has)
hope that helps

Rsync doesn't copy over only the changed files
Hello,
I am trying to sync up 2 directories over a network. I am running
Gentoo and on the new server I have a fresh install of Apache using
webapp-config to install the latest Joomla 1.5. On the other server I
have my backup copy of Joomla 1.5 also running the latest version. I
want to only copy over the files that are not in my new "fresh"
version AND only the files that have

user/password Authentication via Joomla database
Hello,
did anyone ever set up Authentication via lookups to a Joomla (mysql) database?
What I'd like to do is lookup Joomla users (who are in specific/multiple groups)
in the Joomla database and then fallback to /etc/passwd authentication to let
system users authenticate.
I'm running :
# 2.2.35 (b1cb664): /usr/local/etc/dovecot/dovecot.conf
# OS: FreeBSD 11.1-RELEASE-p10 amd64
Thanks

How do I install Joomla! 1.5?
Installing of Joomla! 1.5 is pretty easy. We assume you have set-up
your Web site, and it is accessible with your browser.
Download Joomla! 1.5, unzip it and upload/copy the files into the
directory you Web site points to, fire up your browser and enter your
Web site address and the installation will start.
For full details on the installation processes check out the

Multiple website section = multiple controllers ?
Hi!
I am totally new to ruby on rails and dynamic website creation (never
done php or asp).
I am reading "Agile Web Development with Rails" by D.Thomas, and I am
wondering if I need to create multiple scaffold and controllers to be
able to create a really basic CMS.
Part of the website needed:

Personalised website user account
Apologies for the rather lame Subject title. I''m developing a new CMS
and want to be able to allow people who sign up to create their own user
account as follows: http://USERNAME.domainname.co.uk
I would be very grateful if anyone has any ideas or working examples of
how to do this on account signup. I have seen websites like fluxiom.com
do something similar. Or indeed if there are

Facebooker website
I just wanted to contribute a quick-start page with details about how to get the Facebook session (for internal apps), how to get user info, set profile FBML, post to the news feed, etc. I could even send this as text, or I can add a page using the Radiant CMS if it''s not too cumbersome.
I am also working with Dave Clements to augment the configuration options to make it easier for

RDig - ferret-based website crawler/indexer
Hi!
RDig is a small tool to build a Ferret index for the contents of a
website or intranet. It contains a simple HTTP crawler and some support
for extracting textual content from the fetched pages.
I built this to implement a site-wide search for a recent project
that combined a Rails application with lots of static html files
generated by a CMS.
Any feedback is very welcome!

CentOS 5.10: Upgrading from IUS's php52 to CentOS's php53 questions
I would like to update one of the websites on my server from Joomla 1.5 to
Joomla 3.2, but it wants PHP 5.3. I am currently using IUS's php52 5.2.17,
which is fine for the Joomla 1.5 and the various WordPress sites (up to 3.9)
currently served on this server. I plan to test the update procedure on my
home (test) system (a pretty much identically setup system) before possible

About the new NUT website and the documentation rewrite project
Dear all,
I've released a first "beta" version of the rewritten website using
the MoinMoin wiki (as a CMS).
It's available here: http://test.networkupstools.org/
This way, the website is cuter, cleaner and more manageable.
It will also allows to offer more services, and to share some more
power for the website content, and software releases.
It will most of all allows us to

AD, ACLs on LDAP objects not replicated?
Hi all,
Playing with delegation today we delegated rights to some user on some OU
and its contents for it can modify users inside that OU and children.
We used "advanced view" in ADUC then "properties" on our delegated OU, then
"security" tab, and finally we gave rights to our user.
Perhaps this process is not correct but we believe it is a valid process to
delegate

Implementing Globalize
Hello all,
I was wondering if any of you know some good documentation that
points out how to implement the Globalization plugin in your existing
application.
Also some text on how to use a cms like system with Globalization
(how to handle the population of the translated texts per item for
example)
With kind regards,
Gerard de Brieder.

Well, this is exactly what Contribute was designed for... a remote CMS
for largely static content web sites for non-technical people
