Pfifo_fast "Unknown qdisc" and asking for basic design advice
Hi all,
I''ve done a search through the archives but I can''t find a
cause/solution to this.
I''m running a FC4 box with the stock 2.6.12 kernel and a FC2 box with a
stock 2.6.9 kernel. I''m obviously using
iproute2 and the patched tc.
When I clear down the qdiscs with "tc qdisc del dev <DEV> root" I get

[Bridge] Flushing MAC-tables(?)
Dear list-members!
I am using OpenWRT (www.openwrt.org) on two accesspoints. Within
OpenWRT, the wireless interface and the ethernet interface are bridged
to one interface (br0).
Those two accesspoints are standing quite far from one another. Their
WLAN-cells do not cross each other, meaning I have an area in between
the two accesspoints, where there is no accesspoint of the two
accessible: a

Marking with firewall
Hi all,
I''ve been trying to do the above and read everything I can find on
Google on the subject, but something seems to be going wrong. I tried
the following sample rules in iptables (initially I just set the first
one, but I added more as my desperation escalated):
iptables -t mangle -A PREROUTING -p icmp -j MARK --set-mark 1
iptables -A FORWARD -p icmp -j MARK --set-mark 1

Slashdot on WRT54G
Did anyone see the article?
It''s the first time I really noticed that these little Linksys routers
are such a fully fledged linux machine with a decent processor and a
replacable firmware. I am now itching to get one to replace the
multipurpose firewall desktop machine.
Has anyone experimented with the current state of the firmware and how
advanced you can get with tc rules? For

main adsl fail, backp and test
hi all,
I have a firewall with 2 gateways. Router A (main, adsl), router I
(backup, isdn).
In case of failure of adsl I switch to isdn. How can I know when it is
time to go back? Which is a standard way to test the adsl line?
TIA

Two ADSL lines with PPPoE in one server.
Hello,
My system is:
Server with Slackware 8.1 LINUX, ADSL Internet with PPPoE connection,
and I masquerade my LAN. I use "Roaring Penguin" PPPoE client for my
ADSL connection.
I would like to connect another ADSL line (also PPPoE) to my server
and have two lines, because I want to make "Simple source policy
routing", as described in LARTC HOWTO.
How should I set up my

load balanced adsl lines
Hi Ppl
I have 5 adsl lines that after reading quite a bit i managed to get load balanced now abvoiusly it doesnt load balance evenly and this works on what routes are still in the routing cache. my question is my outbound masquerading had to be modified to use snat in iptables instead of just plain masquerading my outbound masquerading now works but my inbound port forwarding doesnt work would

routing strategies for 2 adsl setup
hi all,
i have been able to find only a trickle of information concerning
possible strategies for a 2 adsl setup using two different isp''s.
has anyone had experience in the usa or elsewhere working with their
providers to carry bgp tables, or would you recommend/implement a
round-robin arrangement?
how ? :-)
yours sincerely

HTB mpu and overhead settings for PPPoE ADSL?
-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE-----
Hash: SHA1
Hello,
I''m using HTB to shape my outgoing traffic over a ADSL-link with PPPoE with a
nominal bandwidth of 128kbit/s. My goal is to favour small packets like ACKs
and interactive services like ssh; in other words, I want to achieve low
lantency.
If there are some big packets going over the wire, everything works fine. But
if there are

Two ADSL Lines either ECMP or BGP?
Hi -
I am trying to find a Linux based solution for one of my clients, I want
to bond two adsl lines into one, with redundancy (if one fails the other
does all the work).
I''ve been looking into ECMP (Equal Cost Multipath), I know BGP would
work, but something like ECMP would be much simpler. I have full control
of both ends of the connections and I can have both ADSL lines terminate

Two ADSL links and one gateway only
Hello!
I read the Split access and Load balancing sections into LARTC
(Chapter 4). However I have one gateway only and the LARTC says about
2 links. I need to know how to make a load balance with my links.
Thanks in advance.

Finally: A working case of two adsl load balance

the problem (Valeu mesmo cara... me ajudou pra caramba!

Here is what i learned in a month of research:
I tried A LOT of things to do load balance, including the one at
LARTC homepage. The only tutorial that REALLY works in my

Problem with multiple ADSL lines
Hi all,
I have managed to setup a Fedora 7 box with 3 ethernet cards and two ADSL
modem/routers from different suppliers as LARTC recommends. I am able to
direct traffic for specific internal IPs either to one or the other ADSL
line. However, I am faced with two problems I am struggling for the
solution:
1. I have opened a few ports on the ADSL router/firewalls to talk to
internal hosts; say when

Traffic shaping an apartment building
Hi,
I live in a rural community where adsl and cable is not widely available. I
correctly have an option of using adsl or cable at my location. Ten miles
away my friends apartment building has no option of cable or adsl. I set-up
a wireless link between my friends apartment building and my house. It
works great for him and me and the adsl company doesn''t care because they
