Routing Load balancing and traffic shaping through 2 ISP links
Hello,
I started off by reading the Linux Advanced Routing & Traffic Control Howto, then searched a bit around the web.
I see many documents discussing these matters with kernel 2.2.x but they are quite old, something around 1998-2000.
I have some questions but I might as well start by exposing my setup to clarify things.
I have a couple of internet links: a leased line of 256kbit/s and an

TC HTB Traffic Shaping
Hi guys,
I''m new to TC HTB traffic shaping....

All looks dandy and nice, but it''s figures, of which at current momment
looks like French to me,
I would like to see exactly what these figures looks like in a GRAPH
style...
I know I can use MRTG, I do have

Monitoring the traffic shaping setup
Hi All,
I am a new member of this list. I want to know about a
way to monitor the traffic shaping setup to confirm
whether it is working as expected. I went through the
archives of this list and found some pointers related
to tc-snmp extension/patch for net-snmp and some perl
scripts on www.docum.org. I want to know whether this
type of a setup work. Or else is there any other way ?
Actually I am

Looking for a good htb traffic shaping script to prioritize incoming traffic
I am looking for a good htb traffic shaping script to prioritize incoming
traffic over outgoing traffic for my machine. I have a 100mbit line, ftp
up, backup data comming in, but whenever mirrors starts grabbing it they use
all the traffic and the backup data comming in (the important data) drops to
like 300kb/sec. I was thinking some script doing

MCMC sampling question
Hello,
Consider MCMC sampling with metropolis / metropolis hastings proposals
and a density function with a given valid parameter space. How are MCMC
proposals performed if the parameter could be located at the very
extreme of the parameter space, or even 'beyond that' ? Example to
express it and my very nontechnical 'beyond that': The von Mises
distribution is a circular

[Bridge] bridge+filter+failover+rules&state sync+traffic shaping
hi list!
i'm trying to find a convenient way to build a redundant filtering
bridge under linux
i looked at carp project, but carp doesn't support bridge
now i thing the most appropriate way is using stp or rstp
it seems that 2.6 kernel supports stp but what about rstp?
I read some docs about stp, but they are rather outdated (2001 and
kernel 2.2)
there are several problems indeed:

load balancing and DNAT
Does anyone know if load balancing and DNAT work well together? I know
that load balancing and NAT do not, but what about a simple port forward?
I can''t apply Julian Anastasov''s patches, because they don''t work with
PPTP patches. :/
Anyhow, a simple:
iptables -t nat -A PREROUTING -i eth0 -p tcp --dport xxx -j DNAT --to
yyy:xxx
iptables -I FORWARD -i eth0 -d yyy -p

Use of geometric mean .. in good data analysis
Ah.... LOD's, typically LLOD's ("lower limits of detection").
Disclaimer: I am *NOT* in any sense an expert on such matters. What follows
are just some comments based on my personal experience. Please filter

useful to do so, most folks probably can safely ignore the rant that

mrtg monitoring shaped traffic
Dave,
In a post to LARTC on 18 Sep 06 you said "I run MRTG on all outbound
traffic".
I''m a newbie with respect to mrtg. I have rrdtool and mrtg built on my
Linux box but I have no SNMP so "nothing works".
Could you please provide basic instructions for implementing mrtg with
respect to traffic shaping?
What is needed? Net-SNMP? OpenSNMP? If yes, what is SNMP used

RE: CBQ and load balancing -> solved
Hi there,
I got the solution for my problem, and thought may at someday somebody
could use it. Julian Anastasov and some people from the LVS mailing list
helped me with it.

Using Linux traffic shaping to prioritise SIP/IAX traffic?
Hi,
Has anyone done anything with the Linux advanced routing stuff to give
SIP and IAX traffic priority?
What I have in mind is a high-pri queue for voip traffic, all the rest
in another queue that gives way to the VOIP stuff.
Thanks,
Steve

Web Based scheduler like LiveSupport for icecast
You might like my project called tunequeue, though it might be overkill or
too much effort to install. It does provide a web interface to ices and
allows fairly complex scheduling. It is perl with a mysql backend.

Routing/forwarding/shaping problems in v2.2.x (Long - sorry)
Greetings from a newbie!
(Well, to this list anyway)
I''m having a problem and I hope someone here might be able to help...
I am strongly expecting an answer along the lines of "upgrade to v2.4.x", but
I would REALLY preffer to avoid that for now...
The setup:
"Home brewed" v2.2.24 (will patch to v2.2.25 later today) with the DS8 patch
applied. Currently

traffic shaping , where?
Hi
I would want to use the patch for squid released by patrick mcHardy, but
it requires that squid is located on the same machine that does traffic
shaping. My configuration is different:
i have the screening HDSL router directly connected to a multi-ethernet
firewall and the proxy located on a DMZ box.
i would want the firewall doing traffic shaping.

Traffic shaping and tun devices
Hi folks,
I have three network cards on my Slackware box and eth0 and eth1 are for two Internet connections.
They have imq0 and imq1. All traffic shaping works fine.
Internal eth2 does no traffic shaping.
But recently I have put two OpenVPN tunnels (tun devices) and both work via eth0.
So my question is - how to shape the traffic on these tun0 and tun1 devices?
Thanks

Shaping known application traffic
Hi,
Many of traffic shaper products provide shaping based on certain
application type. How can we implement shaping of recognized application
types? Like FTP can take only 64Kbps irrelevant of weather FTP Server is
running on port 21 or 4096.
Thanks for your suggestions.

Traffic shaping for IAX and SIP calls through Asterisk?
Hi,
Is it possible to put some kind of bridge which will do traffic
shaping/prioritising between
my 6 external IP addresses and my PPPoA modem interface?
My other option is to put some kind of device at the edge of all my
networks to shape the
traffic in/out. I'd rather do it in one box if possible?
thanks
Mike
