rake spec controller test output hideus.
Is there any way to change the output of rake spec fails? The errors are just totally over the top ugly and not helpful. First of all the ruby -Ilib line always comes before each test and I find it distracting. But if an error occurs on something that is not nil it just gives me the entire contents of that object and that is no small matter when the object is a HTTP request response. Here is

DetachedEval Issues
Hello everyone, I have been attempting to make use of the newly implemented detachedEval functionality and I am having a few teething issues. My code works fine when tested with both the Client and the Server on a single machine, but issues arise when I run them separately.Possibly because the local / local connection is running voer a Unix socket rather than tcp proper? Session (stored in db) not working in testing mode
Hi, I just switched from storing my sessions on disk to storing them in MySQL. Changing environment.rb ''config.action_controller.session_store = :active_record_store''. But now all my tests fail. I get the following error: 1) Failure: test_authorized_new(AdControllerTest) [c:/ruby/lib/ruby/gems/1.8/gems/actionpack-1.11.2/lib/action_controller/depr

RJS Failing
This code was working before I created the update_link_list method in the helper below (everything was in the controller). I can successfully create a new link but I get a TypeError when I leave all form fields blank -- I expect to see validation error messages. --- #link_controller.rb: def create link = Link.new(params[:link]) saved = link.save num_links = Link.find(:all).size

Accessing the params hash in a functional test not working
I am having problems reading params in a functional test (Rails 1.1.2). My test looks like this: fixtures :users def test_auth_bob @request.session[:return_to] = "/bogus/location" post :login, :user => { :email => "bob@example.com", :password => "test" } assert_session_has :user assert_equal @bob, @response.session[:user]

Session not working in testing mode
Hi, I''m having a problem with my sessions. I recently switched from storing sessions on disk to storing them in MySQL. I ran rake create_sessions_table to create the sessions table. But instead of just using the standard table, I wanted something fancier. I would like to know who is currently logged in, so I added the field user_id to the sessions table. In the Rails wiki

SHLG and lib dir
Slowly figuring out how to get my SaltedHashLoginGenerator stuff working. The wiki page says to put "before_filter :login_required" in the user (my "user" is "member") controller or in ApplicationController. However, wherever I put it I get NoMethodError. The rest of the SHLG stuff seems to be working... or at least I could get to the signup page, register, and

class filter: cannot call protected controller methods
Greetins all, I''m rewriting a filter from the method form to a class filter.(see below) Problem: some controller - redirect_to - and route - *_url - methods are protected (redirect_to, f.ex.), and cannot be called. Is this intended? Is there a solution workaround? TIA Alain BEFORE: ----------- before_filter :login_required, :except => [:welcome,:login] def

Send parameter along with method in before_filter
Hello list, I have an app that has a very simple authorization scheme. A person can have many roles and roles can have many people. In my app, I''d like to do before_filter :login_required (since no role name is provided, it accepts any users with credentials) before_filter :login_required ("administrator") (only accepts those with role administrator) before_filter
