Problem was that those game playing students are concentrated in 2 of our 6 physical locations... and they consumed the bandwidth which the other location would like to use for educational purposes. HTB: re-init
Hi there, Being a strong believer in "There is no such thing as a stupid question", here comes nothing... At the moment I am working my way through the "HTB Linux queuing discipline manual - user guide" and I have a question... I implement the tc commands using a simple bash script. But I have yet to find a way to adjust the settings. Whenever I do "tc filter del dev

Sharing bandwidth
Hi there, I''ve got the following problem on my hand..... I''m a sysop for a school in the netherlands. We have a network with 5 different schools (and 1 administration). Each of those have their own ip range in the private network (10.4.0.0 10.5.0.0 and so on). For all these schools we have an internet uplink of 2mbit. And this bandwidth should be shared as fairly as possible.

Hi all, Being new on this list I do not really know if this is the correct list to post. After searching the archives I am pretty sure the answer is not yet here (or I can't search, which can be true) My problem is as follows We are currently testing a Linux/Samba server to host the home shares for about 1000 students at our school (the test is conducted with just 10 of them). With ca

Accessing Constants Declared in Helper Modules
Hello all, I''m having great trouble accessing a constant declared in a helper for one of my view templates. I am trying to create a grouped selection list based on a predefined set of values. Rather than declare this set of values in the view, I wanted to put it in the helper that automatically gets included for the view. Unfortunately, it doesn''t seem to work. All methods

Only one app keeps me on Windows - Can WINE free me?
Currently, there is only one application that is keeping me on Windows, and that is the TivoDesktop software that lets me DL episodes from my Tivo, and in conjunction with the DirectDump tool, allows me to convert those Tivo files to standard MPEG-2 files for editing. Does anyone have experience running TivoDesktop under any version of Wine under any distribution? I'm rather distro agnostic

Samba and file locking
Hi there, Let me first tell you our setup.... I'm at a school (actually 2 but who is counting) with approx 1000 students in a NT domain. In the past we have had problems with students consuming more diskspace than was intended. First we tried to enforce a quota using kix, but the little 'rats' soon figured a way around that. To overcome that we started using an Linux setup with

Suggestion.
Hi, I''m new to the list. I intend to learn about some Linux Networking features to help myself and others. I''m looking to control the bandwidth in my office. Basically there are like 20 computers, a 2MB Adsl Line. And I would love to let them only use a certain amount of bandwidth. For example let every client use 20KB of internet bandwidth of the 210KB we can download

1k: 1000 or 1024?
The docs[1][2] suggest it''s 1024, but tc says something else: # tc qdisc add dev eth0 root tbf rate 1kbps latency 50ms burst 1500 # tc -s qdisc ls dev eth0 qdisc tbf 8009: rate 8000bit burst 1499b lat 48.8ms ^^^^^^^ Sent 0 bytes 0 pkt (dropped 0, overlimits 0 requeues 0) rate 0bit 0pps backlog 0b 0p requeues 0 If 1k were 1024, then I would have 8192bit above.
