Testing file attachment with Paperclip
Does someone have an example on faking a file upload for just ensuring
it gets called, without actually uploading the file to s3.
I thought that stubbing Model.has_attached_file would be enough, but
it doesn''t seem so ...
This is what I did:
Video.stub!( :has_attached_file ).with( :name ).and_return( true )
has_attached_file is from paperclip, it gets mixed to the model.

ActionMailer doesn''t send any mail
I''ve configured actionmailer following the documentation, adding to
environment.rb everything for using my mail account on yahoo using
deliver_* methods to send a mail.
I can see the mail in development.log and everything seems fine, but
no mails so far.
Is there a place where can I see what the server answered, or
something to look at to solve the problem ? I have no clue,

Interface for administration
Hi *, I need to choose a platform for building the administrative
part of http://www.zooppa.com
Actually I like both streamlined and activescaffold, they seem both
good.
I''d like to ask to people using it which one is more likely to manage
correctly things like validations, polymorphic associations, STI and
in general complex data.
If it''s also easy to modify it would

delete_if does not work on associations
I tried to user delete_if on an association:
class Group < ActiveRecord::Base
has_many :memberships, :dependent => :destroy
has_many :users, :through => :memberships
...
end
This is the controller method, trying to use delete_if. Although some
elements are removed (s2 < s1), the save method does not update the
association.

Specification Reuse to avoid Combinatorial Explosions
Hello,
While reading Dan North''s BDD tutorial <http://dannorth.net/introducing-bdd>,
I tried to implement his ATM example as spec stubs.
When I first implemented it creating a context for each of his scenarios, I
noticed that there is duplication and a combinatorial explosion of the
specs.
I attached the full files to this email. For brevity, I will use scenario 1

shouldn''t this work? - session[:array_of_objects].delete_if {|x| x.id == params[:id]}
I am saving an array of active record objects (college courses) in the
session as session[:course_list]. This is the cart for a registration
controller.
If a student chooses to delete the course from the list I get the :id
as params[:id].
However if I do
session[:course_list].delete_if {|x| x.id ==params[:id]}
does not work.
session[:course_list].delete_at(idx)
works. Ocourse to do this I have

It deletes some of the groups.
@article.article_groups.clear

Why dosn''t the to first examples work as expected??

Pagination links with separator
Hi,
I have @result_pages and @results obtained from paginate in an action. I
want to show the pages as
1 | 2 | 3 | 4 >
The fifth page will show:
< 5 | 6 | 7 | 8 >
and so on.
How exactly do I render the paginator to give this effect? I guess I
will have to use pagination_links_each. But being new to Rails, I need
help.
Thanks,
Yash

pagination over custom-sorted collections?
I have a little web app where we need to paginate collections of
items. I''m trying to sort the collection and then pass it, sorted, to
a Paginator, and still be able to paginate through the collection,
across several pages, with the new sort order. The only thing I''m
doing differently from the regular scaffolding approach is this:
@order_pages = Paginator.new(self,

acts_as_taggable and paginate?
Hi there,
I''ve been trying to paginate over a list of members that all share a tag in
common using the acts_as_taggable plugin. The regular way of paginating over
a collection doesn''t seem to work with acts_as_taggable. Here''s what my
method looks like that takes in a tag name, finds all the members that share
the tag and then displays all the members. Nothing too fancy

Pagination of Complex Queries
I''ve created a class method in my model called find_filtered. The intent is
that I take various params that the user has submitted, and let the model
build the query and return the AR collection, which is exactly what happens.
However, now I''d like to paginate the recordset. Everything I''ve been able
to find about pagination presumes that you have no pre-existing AR

custom find methods and pagination
i''ve got several methods in my models i use to find based on certain
criteria...i''ve done this so the controller code is less cluttered, plus the
DRY factor.
example:
class Foo < ActiveRecord::Base
def find_by_something(something)
find :all, :joins => ..., :conditions => ...
end
def find_by_something_else(something_else)
find :all, :joins => ...,
