Encrypted ASP.Net type viewstate
Does rails have any builtin functionality similar to that of ASP.Net''s
encryptable ViewState? For those that don''t know what the ASP.Net viewstate
is, it is essentially just a hidden form field with the name __VIEWSTATE,
that stores a series of encoded(or encrypted) key/value pairs as it''s value.
When the form is submitted the viewstate value is decoded/decrypted on the

I''m new to wxruby, and I haven''t found any answer with google: Is
there a way to capture a lose focus event on controls, such as a combo
box? All my experiments show events when changing the text, but not
when leaving the box.
I want to make a combobox that autocompletes if I press tab (or down
arrow or something), but if I

Fw: Sendmail vs. Postfix
While we are speaking of mailserver related software,
Mailscanner looks to have some great features, but I haven''t been able to
determine that it has user-controllable settings and quarantines.
For those folks that need more of a service provider approach as opposed to
a corporate-friendly approach, or any combination of the two, check out Maia

Goodbye!
I am unsubscribing from the list.
I asked for help at least twice for an issue and only one person even
offered to try and help if they could. I sent them the details directly and
did not receive anything back.
I realize this is a community effort and that I am not guaranteed an answer
when I submit a question, but to not even receive an "RTFM" just doesn''t
leave me feeling

[LLVMdev] goodbye bytecode, hello bitcode
I just checked in the final bits to switch us over from bytecode to
bitcode. Old bytecode files will not work, but I expect this format to be
stable going forward with the 2.x series of releases.
This new format has a number of advantages. In particular:
1. The files are smaller.
2. The reader takes about 2/3 the memory it did before.
3. The reader is about 1/2 the code size of the old

goodbye QuartzBufferedTable
I've finally managed to sort out the problems with my patch to eliminate
QuartzBufferedTable and checked it in. I'm currently building a large
database to test this. The rate was quite a bit faster initially but
after around 200K documents it has settled down to being very slightly
faster than before.
Even if the eventual rate is much the same, this at least improves the

Goodbye Windows?
Hi.
I know that Linux provides most of the softwares we need for business, equivalent of Outlook, MS Office, IE, ... but :
Is it realistic to think that we can delete Win XP, and use Wine with Linux, for a professional use, with :
- All Adobe, with the ICC profiles (I use Monaco EZcolor for the calibration).
- CMS like Joomla and a lot of plugs-in, and a few tools for webranking.
I hope the

After years - goodbye to Wine-Users
After being on this list for years, mostly as a lurker and sometime
participant, I find that due specifically to the new changes in list
membership via the forums that it's time for me to unsubscribe. While
I think it's a very healthy in the long run to have more folks
participating in Wine's growth I also find the quality of the emails
coming across my desk to be significantly less

Create a virtual host using Instant Rails 1.7
Hi,
I created a new rails application called demo using Instant Rails 1.7.
It runs at the URL http://localhost:3003/blog/
The applications that a packaged with the zip file, cookbook and typo are
currenlty the two virtual hosts. I can already run them using the following
URLs
http://www.mycookbook.com and http://typo/
Now, I want to add my application demo as the third virtual host in

Ruby 1.8.4 on SUSE 10.0 howto
All,
I just installed ruby 1.8.4 on my SUSE 10.0 box. It was slightly
convoluted so I thought I would post the solution here.
Once this runs for a day or so I will try upgrading my rails to 1.1

1.9.4 released
Hi
Just a quick note to say we released a new version, 1.9.4. The main
purpose of this release is to offer an OS X gem that''s compatible with
both 10.4 and 10.5 - The wxruby-1.9.3 OS X binary gem would only work
with version 10.5 (Leopard).
Version 1.9.4 also includes a couple of other minor fixes and
enhancements, including
