Hi,
How can I set equal bandwidth of 512kbit downlink and 256kbit uplink for
every single IP address of 254 IP addresses I have in my LAN?

Routing by interface as opposed to ip address?
Hello all,
Does anyone know of a methodology to build a route based on the inbound
and outbound interfaces as opposed to ip addresses? We are essentially
trying to forward packets from one interface to another without looking
at the ip address. Bridging (brctl, br2684ctl) will not work in this
case as the interfaces use different layer 2 encapsulation (e.g.,
atm0<=>eth0, or

Leaky bucket in TC
Hi,
I am trying to control bandwidths of the connections by using TC with
HTB. But I want to implement Leaky Bucket on this structure so as to
have a straight flow.
Due to being new in this area, could anyone help me how I could do this?
Does TC support leaky bucket?
Best regards,

Terrible problem, some men in my net changed their MACs! :/
Is any way to detect changed MAC adresses?
Someone taught change MACs peoples in my network and I have problems.
E.g. Two computers working on one MAC, and one IP (static ARP and DHCP).
WinXP is screaming some message... that two computers or more have the
same IP.
How can I find out who''s changed MAC?

HTB + IMQ + IPtables marking.
Folks,
I''m so surprised what happened to my box just in the few weeks lately.
Here is my setup:
INTERNET <----------> [eth0] SHAPER-BOX [eth1] <----------> USER-FARM
both eth0 & eth1 got public ips (202.x.x.x)
Why traffic monitored at eth0 is bigger than eth1 ?
eth1 shaped just exactly the same as rate i defined in HTB.
I just have 1024Kbps from my ISP and i defined the

How does one increase the output buffer size?
In 2.4 kernels, there was a [bp]fifo that could be implemented with ''tc
add'', but in 2.6 kernels, I find no way to create either of these
fifos. I am able to increase txqueuelen.
What I desire is a larger number of backlogged packetes before drops
occur.
How can the output buffer size be increased for HTB?

how to guarantee 1/numflows bandwidth to each flow dynamically
I am looking for a simple way to guarantee to each flow
going through my traffic control point 1/numflows of
bandwidth. I thought using SFQ would do this effectively
but it appears to be quite unfair: a very high speed
download that fills the pipe easily starves smaller flows to
the point where it becomes unusable (especially if they are
at all interactive)
Because numflows is dynamic,

Broken filters?
Hi!
By iptables I set marking (-j MARK) just before -j IMQ.
There are only three marks. Exectly all of them are ditected to 1:20
Why I see 3 pkts in default 1:30?
How explain it?
### imq0: queueing disciplines
qdisc htb 1: r2q 10 default 30 direct_packets_stat 0
Sent 631429 bytes 1812 pkts (dropped 0, overlimits 20)
### imq0: traffic classes

iptables traversing read
Hi
Is there a program which allow me to see how "my" traffic goes through my
iptables rules? Which accept it, which deny?
Right now my router has a little bit of traffic and its hard to see only
mine traffic.

How many (htb) tc classes and qdiscs are too many?
We have a Linux box that is acting as the gateway to the internet for about
400 people, typically there are not more then 50 of them using the internet
at any given time. We would like to provide different levels of access to
different users. For example 128kbps to some users and 256kbps to others.
We have considered creating a class and qdisc for each user (using htb)
however we don''t

wanted A tool to measure bandwidth....
Hello Everybody,
I have configured a Linux box that does traffic shaping. Its working wonderfully fine, just as expected...Now i want to measure the bandwidth consumed by each of my hosts....But I dont want SNMP to run on all the hosts[as required by MRTG]
I used iptraf on my linux box, but it only measures the bandwidth on interface basis only....
I tried installing traffic-vis, its not working

script working to shape outbound ftp traffic....however, it is shaping
inbound traffic too. I have NO clue why.
Please comment if anyone has any ideas why this doesnt work. I want to

Transfer rate above the desired (tc+htb)
Hi folks.
I started to play with tc+htb last week, and I must confess that this
thing is really driving me nuts.
All we want to do is control bw, with no borrowing.
In order to get the feeling on this subject, I have setup the
following test bed.
---A---B---C---
On B: eth0 connecting A and eth1 connecting C.
The script.
tc qdisc del dev eth0 root
tc qdisc add dev eth0 root handle 1: htb

HTB droping packets
Hello,
I''m using htb3 with kernel 2.6.13 on debian testing release. I have a
hierarchy consisting of 10 parents clas each with 2 to 20 childs and every
child use sfq. The problem is when the default class become congested, the
system start to drop packets for 2 seconds all traffic is blocked, another 3
to 5 minutes all goes all and so on.
Anyone have any ideea about this ?

htb traffic shaping problem
Hello.
I have a linux server connected to a gigabit lan, and though that lan to a
768kbps/768kbps DSL modem.
I''m trying to shape my webserver running on port 80/443 down to 512kbps,
while leaving all other ports alone. The current configuration script that
I''m using is as follows:
tc qdisc del dev eth0 root
tc qdisc add dev eth0 root handle 1: htb default 99
