It's not insulting to me, personally, but quite possibly to the author of

QoS in Linux
Hello All, I am interested in QoS provided by Linux, when I looked into IP
header I came accross ToS field, also while going more into detail about
QoS I found that the QoS based on ToS is serviced thru DiffServ which in
turn gives more priority to packets with higher value is ToS field, but I
am not able to understand when we finally call dev->hard_start_xmit
routine of underlying device

modifications to text.tree function
Hi.
I have to make some minor modifications to the text.tree function - I
don't like the way it prints the split labels (they are too long in my
case and overlap). I tried to make s simple modification to the
text.tree function so that it will limit the number of significant
digits in tree labels, but could not - the original function uses some
undocumented "treeco" function, which

ISPs with QoS for VoIP?
I'm wondering if anyone knows of ISPs with service that has QoS
features that would be good to use with VoIP stuff. Granted,
the QoS would only be supported as long as you stayed within
their network, but it might be better than nothing.

QoS book
Hello all,
Can anyone recommend a good book which thoroughly explains QoS from a
Linux perspective? Something with TC examples & the like. I''ve looked
at the following:

QOS / Cisco / Asterisk
We're trying to PQ (Priority Queue) packets on a Cisco using ACL's. What
we're trying to avoid is hardcoding the IP address in the ACL. We were
trying to match by TOS set by Asterisk however it seems we've run into a
snag where the packet TOS tends to get reset somewhere on our network.
Has anyone had this issue? We're running Cisco everywhere inbetween
(even the switches). Is

Diffserv Research Network
Hi all,
We are a group of research students and working on IPv6 QoS aware Grid.
>From our set of experiments we have a particular case:
Suppose a host A want to initiate traffic of some kind to host B, where A
and B are connected by two intermediate routers wherein there can be other
connections from the router.
Our needs are as follows

forwarding in tcng
Hi!
I am learning tcng without having experiance of tc and I am trying to
build something that shall schedule traffic dependent on the value in the
IPv4 packets ip_ttl field.
I have read the tcng reference manual and cannot find information about
forwarding. Is it possible to farward packets from ingress to egress
without sending them upwards in layers?

QoS IP precedence and Diffserv combination
All:
I am tasked with creating an environment in which DiffServ and IP
precedence is handled as close to RFC specification as possible. I have
a few problems with implementing this based on current queueing
structure. Here are a few of my questions.
1.) Is there any way to get DiffServ AF drop levels without using
DSMARK and GRED?
Ex.
AF11 Gred DP 1
AF12 Gred DP 2
AF13 Gred DP 3
2.)

QoS in wireless networks
Hello,
I''m trying to configure several wireless routers with QoS support. The
idea is to implement differentiated services so that VoIP traffic gets
the maximal priority, then video, control traffic, interactive data
traffic and best-effort traffic.
I have seen that CBQ used to be chosen as qdisc for implementing
bandwith share in DiffServ but now HTB is preferred because it is

Snom 360
I am having major problems with the first run of Snom 360s that rolled
out last month.
I am working with the US vendor and they in turn are working with Snom
but I wanted to see of anyone else was using these or having issues with
them.
Issues:
Speakerphone/Hands Free volume spikes up and down during a call. You
have to manually set the volume during every call. This makes it totally
unusable.

Losing Packets after a DNAT in prerouting
I''m trying to setup some DNAT and the packets seem to be disappearing after
the PREROUTING step. The packets are coming in eth2 (both LOG targets in
iptables and tcpdump confirm this). They are then DNATed to an IP that
should cause them to go out eth3. However I never see them go out that
interface. I have tried putting LOG rules into the FORWARD chain with no
success. I''m

dsmark, unkown
Hi,
I want to use the dsmark, but it always says: "unkown qdisc", although I
have enabled it (y in Network options), and I have my kernel recompiled.
I am using SuSE 8.1, 2.4.20 Kernel, tc available at the HTB site (with
already precompiled HTB queue).
Can anybody find the problem?
thx

importing S-Plus data files
I have some data in the Linux version of S-Plus, which I can not use
anymore. The program is just broken and won't run. I'm trying to
find a way to import that data to either Windows version of S-Plus
(which I have running on my other machine) or R (Linux or Windows,
it doesn't matter).
Unfortunately, nothing seems to work.
Windows S-Plus seem to ignore files from Linux .Data

DSCP, ToS and Egress
I''m successfully using HTB + GRED to shape traffic based on the DSCP field. I
would like to strip the DSCP and possibly replace it with normal ToS bits on
egress traffic leaving my network. Leaving DSCP set is pointless, and could
potentially cause problems with some ISPs that use DSCP internally I suppose.
Setting ToS bits would seem ideal as most networks still honor it to varying

R memory and CPU requirements
Thanks for all the help on my previous questions.
One more (hopefully last one) : I've been very
surprised when I tried to fit a model (using aov())
for a sample of size 200 and 10 variables and their
interactions.
It turns out that even 2GB of RAM is not anough for
aov() with this sample size, which does not seem so
big for me. Am I doing something wrong or this is

DSCP QoS value in YeaLink phone settings
Hello list,
I need to set Voice QoS and SIP QoS for YeaLink. The possible values are
0 ~ 63.
With Grandstream I can fill in DiffServ 46, which is EF. That's what I want.
With Snom I fill in 184, which corresponds to EF or DSCP 46 (according
to their wiki)
But what value do I want to fill in with this YeaLink ???
This is a conversion table :
