NOOBE help
I know, I should not have to ask this question, but it appears that ALL my previous yum.repos.d entries have been trashed, with the only ones left is base, CentOS Media then the mirrors.rpmforge.reo, rhel-mondo.repo, rpmforge.repo, and webmin.repo. I've been bitten by the mixing of repositories before and want to avoid that scenario. Something is amok in the existing, and it throws all

Samba 2.2.3a + Windows XP - Office 2K & Messenger Crashes
Hi, I have a samba server running for about 2 years and now I updated the server to RH 7.2 + All Updates and samba-2.2.3a. We have about 40 win98 boxes running without any problems. Now I'm trying to configure WinXP pro boxes, I've already managed to connect them to the domain, but I'm having very weird problems using Office 2K and Windows Messenger. When I logon using an

oembed_provider gem now available
Hi everyone, Version 0.1 of the oembed_provider gem is out. oembed_provider is a Rails engine to answer oEmbed requests for application media asset models. In other words, this gem allows your application, after configuring the gem and the relevant models, to act as an oEmbed Provider by providing a controller that returns JSON or XML for a given oEmbed consumer request for the specified media

Arbiter and geo-replication
Hi all! Today I have a small gluster replication on 2 machines. My plan is to scale this, I though need some feedback that how I plan things is in the right direction. First of all I have understood the need of an arbiter. When I scale this, say that I just have 2 replica and 1 arbiter, when I add another two machines can I still use the same physical machine as the arbiter? Or when I add

[Idea] session-wide persistent variables
I was thinking about having instance variable stored and fetched from session container automatically before calling an action and after the action is finished. Using methodology of accessors it would look like: class MyController < ActionController::Base persistent_attr :person def alfa person = ''John Smith'' # render as usual view alfa.rhtml with anchor

random | in join statement with more than one :include
I have an ActiveRecord class that has several has_many,belongs_to, habtm, and the new has_many => :through relationships. Whenever I try a find(:all, :conditions => "some conds", :include [:relationship]) it works fine, but if I have find(:all, :conditions => "some conds", :include [:relationship, :other_relation]) it gets a sql error such as Mysql::Error: You

contrasts
Hi, I'm having difficulty specifying contrasts for a within subjects factor with 3 levels. I can do it correctly for my factors with 2- levels, but i'm not getting the correct results for a 3-level factor. My design has 1 between subjects factor (gp) and 3 within subjects factors. Within factor "w" has 2 levels, within factor "x" has two factors, and within

R CMD build errors if files cannot be moved, even if they are in Rbuildignore
When a package is built it is first moved to a temporary directory (lines 962-980 in build.R). However, this moves *all* files to the temporary directory, even those in Rbuildignore; only later (lines 997-1024) are Rbuildignore files excluded. The problem with this approach is that some files in the package directory may not be movable. On Windows at least, the full path name to a file must not

Power failure diagnosis?
This morning between 07:10 or so and 08:10 I discovered that my PC had shut itself off. I thought it was due to a power failure becuase I never turn it off without a good reason, and it had been running (and playing sounds) until it wasn't. My roommate/landlord tells me that the only anomaly he observed was that our router had lost its internet connection (via a cable modem, which was still
