Mongrel with mephisto on a Virtual Private Server
Hello everyone, I am trying to setup Mongrel to work with Apache on a VPS as part of a mephisto installation. Has anyone done this, and if so how did you edit your conf file to make it work? I used the info found on the mongrel site at: http://mongrel.rubyforge.org/docs/apache.html<http://mongrel.rubyforge.org/docs/apache.html> and one time I did get a mephisto splash screen, but it was

Subversion AND Rails hosting
I''ve been scouring the net looking for different hosting solutions, but have so far only found one site that has what I''m looking for. I would like to be able to host both a subversion repository for development and my rails application(s) all in one location. So far, I''ve only found a company called AVLUX (http://avlux.net/host.php) that has this. Does anyone know of

Issues with mod_proxy/mod_proxy_balancer and my ded. server host
Hello list, I wonder if someone could help me understand the following: I''ve got a managed dedicated server with GoDaddy. Until now, I''ve only hosted PHP applications there. I now need to set it up to host my new beloved Rails application. I asked them to set up apache with mod_proxy_balancer for the mongrel cluster, however, here''s what they told me: *Unfortunately,

To Do list project?
I''m looking for a good web-based to do list app. Essentially, I''d like to use Basecamp''s todo management system, but that''s not an option since I can''t install Basecamp on a server I own. The information being tracked in the list cannot be sent out of my intranet. I would imagine that there are a couple of open source rails apps that would meet my

Could someone host my 1mb rails app??
Hi Everyone, Would someone be able to do a huge favor for me and host a very small 1mb rails app for me?? I can''t get my hosting up and running yet and I really need it up and running by today for my professor to check it off. I only need it up for about two weeks. You will get a lot of karma points for it :) Thanks in advance!! Jordan -- Posted via http://www.ruby-forum.com/.

Sending Emails via Cron
I''m developing an application using RoR that will generate enough email notifications that I don''t want them in the actual web application. So, I''m thinking about having an outgoing queue that a cron job would pick up and deliver. My question is if this is possible with a ruby script that uses ActiveRecord and ActiveMailer?

Measuring hosting performance: shared <--> vps <--> dedicated
Every app we build has to be deployed, and the price has to be right. * dedicated servers start at 99$/m (Dreamhost, ..), and shared hosting go up to 47$/m (PlanetArgon) or 60$/m (TextDrive) * Railsplayground: 2$/m * TextDrive dedicated servers : 1000$/m Is there an objective way/tool to measure, test and compare the performance of the hosters?
