net command,winbind and active directory
Hi all! Is it possible to just join to domain with samba's net command without creating machine account again if it is already created? Can winbind use machine account to authenticate itself to AD because I'm not an admin of AD i can't use administrator account for value of --set-auth-user option. If that is possible how do I get machine account password? is it possible to get with

[HTB] htb_dequeue_tree assertion (kernel 2.4.21-ac4)
Hello, I think the BUG_TRAP() in the htb_dequeue_tree() is wrong. First it checks if the class pointer "cl" is NULL, which is obviously right. But I do not understand why we also check whenever the queue length of the leaf queue is zero "cl->un.leaf.q->q.qlen". I would have put that in the expression of the "if" statements that comes afterwards. A queue

[PATCH 0/6] htb: cleanup
The HTB scheduler code is a mess, this patch set does some basic house cleaning. The first four should cause no code change, but the last two need more testing. -- Stephen Hemminger <shemminger@osdl.org> "And in the Packet there writ down that doome" - To unsubscribe from this list: send the line "unsubscribe netdev" in the body of a message to

HTB deadlock
Greetings, I''ve been experiencing problems with HTB where the whole machine locks up. This usually happens when the whole qdisc is being removed and occasionally when a leaf is being removed. Common is that it always happens when some sort of removal is in progress. Console output I have captured is at the end of this message. The same behavior exists from vanilla 2.6.19.7 and above.

Help:how to generate different packets?souce code explanation?
Hi,All I setup traffic control configuration with HTB this way: 1: root HTB qdisc | 1:1 HTB class rate 1024kbit | /-----+-----+-----+------+-----\ 1:10 1:20 1:30 1:40 1:50 1:60 EF AF41 AF31 AF21 AF11 BE and alloct different bandwidth to these PHBs(queues). So which tool would I use to generate these packets at the same to for

htb patch
Hello all, I am compiling a 2.4.19 kernel. I downloaded the kernel source from familiar project, which is a project working on porting linux to ipaq handheld devices. The question I have is what patch should I apply: htb3 or htb2? Also, I looked into htb3 patch. There are the source for sch_htb.c and some definitions that should be added to pkt_sch.h. I already have a sch_htb.c in my kernel

[PATCH 1/2] Runtime configuration of HTB''s HYSTERESIS option (kernel)
The HTB qdisc has a compile time option, HTB_HYSTERESIS, that trades accuracy of traffic classification for CPU time. These patches change hysteresis to be a runtime option under the control of "tc". The effects of HYSTERESIS on HTB''s accuracy are significant (see chapter 7, section 7.3.1, pp 69-70 in Jesper Brouer''s thesis: http://www.adsl-optimizer.dk/thesis/ ),

Adding HTB support for kernel 2.4.19 SUSE 8.1
Hi everybody, I''ve got a little problem when adding HTB support to my SUSE 8.1 by patching its kernel 2.4.19. After i patch kernel getting some errors, the HTB kernel option shows up but when i make modules it finds something wrong with the sch_htb.o module. Could somebody give me a hand on this? Thanks in advance. I get this information when patching (patch -p1 <

HTB Message Storm HTB Delay <large number> > 5 secs
Hello I''ve set up a simple system. It seems to work for a short while, but now I''ve got batches of 100''s of these messages. Also I can''t connect through that box any more. It''s as if forwarding died. Has anyone any advice? Regards John

repeating rows or columns within a matrix
Hello Spse I have a matrix, say 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 and I would like to expand it by repeating rows within the matrix, to get, if the repeating factor is 2, say: 123 123 456 456 789 789 (or columnwise as well) . There must be a smart way of doing that? Many thanks Juhana Vartiainen juhana.vartiainen at labour.fi -.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-

HTB and tc filter

HTB dequeueing in pairs fixed
I posted earlier when I noticed that htb was releasing packets in pairs, even though my burst/quantums were 1 pkt. To fix I set HTB_HYSTERESIS 0 in net/sched/sch_htb.c . This gives a noticable gain in upstream worst case latency, for me with 256kbit/s up I used to see +90 sometimes, now it''s +45. For the many who have 128 up it should limit them to +90 rather than +180. Andy.

Failed to insmod sch_htb
Hi, I''m new to HTB and CBQ, and i want to try it. But i failed the first step: load modules. I patch the kernel 2.4.17 succesfully, add QoS support, and all QoS scheds in modules instead off kernel. make clean dep bzImage modules modules_install copy the new kernel reboot fine But when i : server:~# insmod sch_htb Using /lib/modules/2.4.17/kernel/net/sched/sch_htb.o

htb v3 question - quantum and r2q again
Hello! One simple question regaring htb2->htb3 way. I''m using 2.4.25 kernel with tc3 from Devik''s site, RH9. My data flow is about 100Mbit duplex and is subject to grow, so I''m creating root class with 200Mbit rate, with r2q=10, quantum = rate/r2q, and 1500 < quantum < 200000 (sch_htb.c) with such r2q my default shaping window will be from 120Kbit to 16Mbit,

[htb] strange problems !?
hi, I have strange problems with HTB and several hundred classes flat structure i.e. root |--50kbps |--30kbps |--50kbps |--80kbps |--100kbps .... several hundred classes like this Ceil is the same as rate. The machine get no more than 2-3% average cpu(2.4Ghz pentium). What happens is that from time to time the traffic got "stalled". I tried numerous things to solve
