Supermicro SAS/SATA controllers?
The standard controller that has been recommended in the past is the
AOC-SAT2-MV8 - an 8 port with a marvel chipset. There have been several
mentions of LSI based controllers on the mailing lists and I''m wondering
about them.
One obvious difference is that the Marvel contoller is PCI-X and the LSI
controllers are PCI-E.
Supermicro have several LSI controllers. AOC-USASLP-L8i with the

Is this card new? I''m not finding it at the usual places like Newegg, etc.
It looks like the LSI SAS3081E-R, but probably at 1/2 the

Supermicro AOC-SASLP-MV8
Bouncing a thread from the device drivers list:
http://opensolaris.org/jive/thread.jspa?messageID=357176
Does anybody know if OpenSolaris will support this new Supermicro card,
based on the Marvell 88SE6480 chipset? It''s a true PCI Express 8 port JBOD
SAS/SATA controller with pricing apparently around $125.
If it works with OpenSolaris it sounds pretty much perfect.

Supermicro AOC-SAT2-MV8 and 1TB Seagate Barracuda ES.2
Hi all,
I''m getting a very strange problem with a recent OpenSolaris b134 install.
System is:
Supermicro X5DP8-G2 BIOS 1.6a
2x Supermicro AOC-SAT2-MV8 1.0b
11 Seagate Barracuda 1TB ES.2 ST31000340NS drives
If I have any of the 11 1TB Seagate drives plugged into the controller,
the AOC-SAT2-MV8 BIOS appears to detect them just fine, but I get the
following problems:
1. Grub takes a

scrub differs in execute time?
I have a raidz2 and did a scrub, it took 8h. Then I reconnected some drives to other SATA ports, and now it takes 15h to scrub??
Why is that?

My test setup of 8 x 2G virtual disks under Virtual Box on top of Mac

SAS or SATA HBA with write cache
Anyone know of a SATA and/or SAS HBA with battery backed write cache?
Seems like using a full-blown RAID controller and exporting each individual drive back to ZFS as a single LUN is a waste of power and $$$. Looking for any thoughts or ideas.
Thanks.

Looking for some hardware answers, maybe someone on this list could help
I posted a thread here...
http://forums.opensolaris.com/thread.jspa?threadID=596
I am trying to finish building a system and I kind of need to pick
working NIC and onboard SATA chipsets (video is not a big deal - I can
get a silent PCIe card for that, I already know one which works great)
I need 8 onboard SATA. I would prefer Intel CPU. At least one gigabit
port. That''s about it.

Force SATA1 on AOC-SAT2-MV8
I have a supermicro AOC-SAT2-MV8 and am having some issues getting drives to work. From what I can tell, my cables are to long to use with SATA2. I got some drives to work by jumpering them down to sata1, but other drives I can''t jumper without opening the case and voiding the drive warranty. Does anyone know if there is a system setting to drop it back to SATA1? I use zfs on a raid2 if

Is LSI SAS3081E-R suitable for a ZFS NAS ?
According to various posts the LSI SAS3081E-R seems to work well with OpenSolaris.
But I''ve got pretty chilled-out from my recent problems with Areca-1680''s.
Could anyone please confirm that the LSI SAS3081E-R works well ?
Is hotplug supported ?
Anything else I should know before buying one of these cards ?
Thanks,

Going from 6 to 8 disks on ASUS M2N-SLI Deluxe motherboard
My current home fileserver (running Open Solaris 111b and ZFS) has an ASUS
M2N-SLI DELUXE motherboard. This has 6 SATA connections, which are
currently all in use (mirrored pair of 80GB for system zfs pool, two
mirrors of 400GB both in my data pool).
I''ve got two more hot-swap drive bays. And I''m getting up towards 90%
full on the data pool. So, it''s time to expand,

Fully supported 12-port SATA cards?
I am helping a friend who is build a storage server for his company
and I have advocated for Solaris and ZFS.
But now we are having trouble to find any good SATA controller for
12+ disks, there are Areca cards, but they seems very flaky (24 port
support, but hangs with more than 12 in JBOD mode, hangs on disk
failures etc).
The AOC-SAT2-MV8,AOC-USAS-L8i have been mentioned, but it had

flush-btrfs-1 hangs when building openwrt
Hi,
Since update to 2.6.37 I can''t build openwrt on my btrfs buildroot anymore.
I''m not sure if this is related to the other flush-btrfs-1 thread.
plenty of diskspace is free:
/dev/mapper/cruor-build
97G 68G 27G 73% /opt/build
It always hangs when openwrt builds the ext4 image and runs tune2fs on it.

If not, would the x4540 accept them ?

ZFS, SATA, LSI and stability
After having massive problems with a supermicro X7DBE box using AOC-SAT2-MV8 Marvell controllers and opensolaris snv79 (same as described here: http://sunsolve.sun.com/search/document.do?assetkey=1-66-233341-1) we just start over using new hardware and opensolaris 2008.05 upgraded to snv94. We used again a supermicro X7DBE but now with two LSI SAS3081E SAS controllers. And guess what? Now we get

help with libtool!
Hi,
Now I am working on BCC Cross-compiler in order to get the binaries for
LEON3 (Google SoC 2007).
I changed these lines of Makefile ...
CC = gcc
CPP = gcc -E
... to these :
CC = sparc-elf-gcc -mv8 -msoft-float
CPP = sparc-elf-gcc -mv8 -msoft-float -E
The options means:
-mv8 : generate SPARC V8 instructions
-msoft-float : emulate floating-point
When I run "make", there is a

AOC billing
Hello,
is there someone who knows if I can use AOC for billing in Asterisk?
I mean: let's say I have an external SIP device that produces AOC
data. This device connects me to the telco network. Can Asterisk, if
connected via SIP with this device, collect AOC data and put it in
the CDR records?
If not, which is the right way to use AOC for billing?
Thanks a lot
