(package e1071) SVM tune for best parameters: why they are different everytime i run?
Hi, I run the following tuning function for svm. It's very strange that every time i run this function, the best.parameters give different values. [A] >svm.tune <- tune(svm, train.x, train.y, validation.x=train.x, validation.y=train.y, ranges = list(gamma = 2^(-1:2), cost = 2^(-3:2))) # where train.x and train.y are matrix

observe_field is not working everytime in IE 6.0
Hi, This is Atit here. I am working on Ruby on Rails. I have one functionality in which, I have two drop down. Second drop down list is dependent on first one. So changing value of first drop down is refreshing the second drop down. I have used observe_field to implement this functionality. This is working fine in Fire Fox but in IE 6.0 it is not populating second drop down every

I'm running rsync 2.6.4 on debian stable ppc, backing up a couple of home directories to a Netware filestore mounted through ncpfs. My command looks like this: rsync -r -t --delete -i --modify-window=10 --exclude=/**/.* --exclude=/xxx/ /home/xxxx /home/xxxx /mnt/xxxx The backup works fine, except that everytime it's run all files are listed as having their times modified like this:

supermin: how can I avoid downloading packages everytime when run make
Hi, When I run make in libguestfs directory, supermin tries to redownload all packages it needs everytime. This is a blocker for me because: 1. I have a slow network connection, redownloading all packages is just a waste of time even though they are not big. 2. My network connection is not stable(especially when visiting sites outside of China), sometimes it fails to download the packages

Small site survivability
We are currently moving away from a wide-spread Cisco CallManager deployment to Asterisk. For many of our small sites we have the routers configured for what Cisco calls SRST so if we have a WAN failure, the router acts as a SCCP registrar. We are converting to SIP, and from what I can tell Cisco wants a license for each router to run SRST over SIP... So my question to the group is: What are

create distinctive ring on FXS
Hi, I use Asterisk at home to filter the annoying people before they get a real voice. So basically if you don't know the extension of one of the occupants you have no choice but leave a message. Works well... perhaps I miss some improtant calls, but if you leave no message it must not be important! Anyhow, I would like to be able to make the phone ring distinctively depending on who the

configuration question
Hello, The first thing I would suggest is to check freshmeat.net and see if there is something comparable to astound out there for linux, therefore bypassing the whole windows program need, bypassing the need for most pay-per-license fees. As far as running a windows program under linux, you would need WINE, vmware or some other win-emulator. Hope this advise helps some. -----Original

zfs eradication
Hi, I was discussing the common practice of disk eradication used by many firms for security. I was thinking this may be a useful feature of ZFS to have an option to eradicate data as its removed, meaning after the last reference/snapshot is done and a block is freed, then write the eradication patterns back to the removed blocks. By any chance, has this been discussed or considered before?

SIP reinvite asterisk and NAT
I would like to setup up a remote office with a half dozen or so SIP phones connected to an asterisk server via a WAN link. To conserve bandwidth I would like the phones to be able to re-invite when they call each other. The phones will be Polycom, Cisco, or Snom. I may or may not use NAT. Seems like the NAT would really mess up re-invites, any experience with that? Assuming no NAT,
