3.0.20a winbind getent problem...
Hi all,
I have successfully setup squid on 1 host to authenticate users against win2k AD using Samba+Winbind.
On a second host I now wish to do the same and have installed from source using the same options, but cannot get any getent calls to work with winbind, even though wbinfo -t shows the trust being OK, wbinfo -g shows domain groups and wbinfo -i shows domain users.
This is level 10 debug

[stuart.leask@nottingham.ac.uk: R in your pocket on a Sharp Zaurus]
Ah, but the interesting thing is that they are coming out with a 'clam'
version like the 5MX. Details are limited at the moment, but that could
mean the combination of 5MX usability with a supported linux distro. I
am drooling in anticipation. Sounds like a "I've finally finished my
PhD and deserve a treat" situation to me :)

Plotting Data on a Map
Hi:
I am practicing with the attached shapefile and was wondering
if I can get some help. Haven't used 'rgdal' and 'maptools' much
but it appears to be a great way bring map data into R.
Please take a look at the comments and let me know if I need to
explain better what I am trying to accomplish.

Analyzing Medical Data Using S-PLUS by Everitt and Rabe-Hasketh
Dear All,
I have just read a glowing review (in the Int. Journal of
Epidemiology) of "Analyzing Medical Data Using S-PLUS" by Everitt and
Rabe-Hesketh and it sounds like the sort of thing I would like to get
my hands on. Is anyone on this list familiar with this book, and in
particular have a feel for how useful it will be with R? According to
the review the emphasis is on the command

PXELINUX 6.03 / vesamenu.c32 hang
I've just tried 4.07 and that has the same results.
I should note that I appear to be in error about things working OK with menu.c32 as opposed to vesamenu.c32 - I do indeed see the menu (which with vesamenu.c32 it does not get that far), but when I attempt to choose the Windows Deployment Services option, it hangs.
Thanks,
Dan Jackson (Lead ITServices Technician).

using R for survival analysis
Thank you to all who made very helpful suggestions to get started with R.
Duncan Murdoch raised an excellent question, asking about my background and
reason for using R. I'm an epidemiologist, applying the marginal structural
models approach (inverse probability of treatment weights) in a Cox
proportional hazards analysis.
The statistical program which I had been using does not have

Tcl/Tk not working on Mac OS X
Greetings.
Yesterday I decided to try out Rcmdr, but it refused to load. I
traced the problem to the library tcltk, which when I tried to load it
told me this:

how to coerce the result of sweep to be an array if result of FUN is a string?
Hi,
I would like to use sweep to "sweep out" proportions and confidence intervals for an array, however when I supply a function which returns a string (containing something like "9% (3-18%)") I get back a list instead of an array, here is a simplified example:
# example showing that sweep does not return an array with same dimensions as STATS as advertised

Question about food sampling analysis
Greetings to all, and my apologies for a question that is mostly about
statistics and secondarily about R. I have just started a new job that
(this week, apparently) requires statistical knowledge beyond my training
(as an epidemiologist).
The problem:
- We have 57 food production facilities in three categories
- Samples of 4-6 different foods were tested for listeria at each facility
- I need

rstandard.glm() in base/R/lm.influence.R
I contacted John Fox about this first, because parts of the file are
attributed to him. He says that he didn't write rstandard.glm(), and
suggests asking r-devel.
As it stands, rstandard.glm() has summary(model)$dispersion outside the
sqrt(), while in rstandard.lm(), the sd is already sqrt()ed. This seems to
follow stdres() in VR/MASS/R/stdres.R.
Of course for the c("poisson",

Lattice graph help
Hi all
I hope you might help me with some aspects of producing a graph in lattice. There are three things I have struggling with and that is: 1. to separate the horizontal box rows from each other; 2. to change the colour of the horizontal and vertical strips to white; and 3. to place the axes labels on the left y axes and on the bottom x axes. I would really appreciate some help. I have put the
