In this specific case no, but I already tried to open CIFS support cases
but at the end they tell me that It works as expected with a MS DC and
that Samba DC is not supported by them.
I cannot omit that I use Samba because they always

smbclient using SMB2+ against NetApp OnTap 8.2 anyone ?
So I just spent a frustrating day trying to
get smbclient from 4.2.x and master connecting
to a NetApp 8.2 box using SMB2 or SMB3 with
NTLM auth.
Short answer - it doesn't work :-(. Longer
answer - the NetApp is choking on something
inside the SPNEGO NTLMSSP packets we're sending
it - giving the error that it couldn't parse
the SPNEGO packet.
Unfortunately (and knowing bugger-all

Using rpcclient with my NetApp fails
Hello:
I have a Netapp 8.2.2P1 7-Mode connected to my Active Directory domain
and the following rpcclient command on CentOS 6.5 is bailing on the
following error:
could not obtain sid for domain QUEST
error: NT_STATUS_ACCESS_DENIED
I've tested this with all stable version of 3.6 etc. I have not tried
the python based rpcclient command yet though.
But after a bit of debugging, it seems that

multi-homed samba PDC and NetApp filers
We are having a problem getting a NetApp filer to re-join a samba
domain after a move to a new network. The filer worked fine with
samba before the move. Apologies in advance for the long missive.
I've tried the following:
- re-running the CIFS setup program on the filer
- removing the problem filer's samba account, replacing it, and
re-running the setup program on the filer

NetApp vfiler example scripts
Hi,
For anyone who is interested; I created some basic scripts based on my
current iSCSI block script.
http://kinkrsoftware.nl/contrib/xen/block-netapp
http://kinkrsoftware.nl/contrib/xen/netapp-lun.py
Basically these two scripts allow you to start a vfiler with a qtree of
customers. You log in the NetApp upon boot, and can use:
netapp://customer1/disk1
It is work in progress... because I

objectclass "posixAccount" missing on new created users
Hello,
I made an upgrade from sernet-samba 4.3.11 to sernet-samba 4.6.7.
With samba 4.3.11 all created users contained the objectclass "posixAccount".
With samba 4.6.7 they don't.
We have a NetApp-Storage-Server which exports nfs4-mounts (with kerberos).
Yesterday I wanted to change the owner of a directory and "chown" threw an error "invalid argument".

Samba vs. NetAppliance
Hi,
I'm debating purchasing a NetAppliance fileserver that does native CIFS.
Below is a URL
to a NetAppliance authored paper regarding performance. One of the sections
compares
NFS to CIFS and talks about Samba. Can anyone dispute any of this? Is
there any reason
besides price that I should stick with Samba?

NetAPP still noone done?
Hi!
I have the following config:
RedHat ES 3
Samba 3.0.2a with OpenLDAP 2.0.27
Everything works fine having Samba setup as a PDC. But when trying to
join a (brand new) NetApp F810 to the domain I get an error: "Could not
create authentication pipe".
I really would need help asap ;)
Thanks

Samba 3.0.x and Netapp filers
Hi !
Siemens is migrating away from Windows fileservers to Netapp Filers.
First I thought great thats cool get rid of some more MS boxes...
But now I face troubles connecting to the shares on the filers.
Our support states a cite from netapp as: "samba is not compliant with
the specs"
Could anyone suply me with ammunition to counter that or knows why the
netapp does not allow to

storing profiles on a 3rd host (NetApp), and [profiles] section of smb.conf

Is it okay to use an NFS-mounted path in the [profiles] path statement?
2.
How do I make sure that owner & permissions don't get set to root on
certain profile files when the user profile is migrated to the PDC
'logon path' area?

NFSv4 delegation
just a quick update:
no issues with NFSv4.0 (load is slowly growing, currently ~7k mailboxes)
instead, bad news from delegation front, we enabled it for a couple of
days but we ran in ugly issues: processes went in "uninterruptible
sleep" state, load average gets huge, reboot was the only escape :-(

SAMBA with NetApp filer
I'm newbies in SAMBA and NetApp filer , I use Filer with OpenLDAP as an
authentication and authorization server , but look like NetApp doesn't
work properly
( can't authentication ) , NetApp engineer suggest me that NetApp work
properly with pure
ActiveDirectory Environment. not SAMBA + OpenLDAP backend like me have.
so I solve this problem by make Samba as native PDC and use

Problem getting share list from NetApp
We defined a share, sales_cifs_test, on our NetApp server. Note that the
length of the name is longer than 13 characters.
We can see the share with Microsoft Explorer.
We can mount the share from Linux using smbmount.
What we want to do is to get a list of shares from NetApp. The tools
that can do this are the samba programs smbclient and net.
Smbclient will not show names longer than 13

NFSv4 delegation
hi all,
i'm managing a large installation of a dovecot cluster in director + NFS
backend architecture and we are moving from NFSv3 to NFSv4. Our NFS
server is a Netapp in clustered mode and reading technical specs of
NFSv4 delegation feature it seems that enabling delegation in this type of
dovecot architecture should bring great benefits: only one backend server access
a specific mailbox at a
